I agree tbw. She must be doing something fraudulent if that figure is correct so should DEFINITELY be prosecuted. Happily these cases are few and far between but I can see how it would make the blood boil.

Without ranting away to.
Yes its ridiculous !!!

Her Husband does just enough hours for them to avoid the £26,000 cap. No disabilities are involved. They have thought it out well so as to maximise benefits.ELITE 5:2

The rules are quite simple and going on about what the dailymail website is saying. If you have a child that is disabled your benefits do not get capped. You get £20 a week child benefit then £13 for the others. £650 a month then you add the tax credits £2800 a month. depending on the amount of children with disability's the weekly figure for that childs tax credits is doubled. My guess is that she is also getting £60 a week c/a about £280 a month.
I guess the issue is that the rules are open to abuse and that really the money should be for the children and not buying £900 handbags. Should we ban people having 10 kids? 12 kids? 20 kids? should we say that you only get CB and TC for the first 3 kids and any more you get nothing. is that putting kids in hardship because of the parents?
We look to the government to create the rules for the society we live in. I quite pleased I don't make the rules and the laws. Because I don't think you can make the right choice.
an example, someone said she should be prosecuted for what she has done, what if she has done nothing wrong and is playing the system because in fact that is the rules. Are we saying we want to create a law that playing the system would be illegal? How would you prove this? are we saying that if you get benefits, buying a £900 pound handbag would be illegal. I cant see that being fair. is a £90 handbag ok? its just a shame that these people do what they do because 99% of people don't do this.
Are we saying that we should restrict the benefits for the mass because of the few. I guess that is my take on this. While I agree that what she is doing is wrong. I also see the point that people are in need. I would hate because of this person it would hurt others in need.
(I see someone has said about no disabilities are involved, I guess my point is still the same)0 -
