Yip, if liability is found with me, which you all seem to think is the case then there are no costs to recover, so its all over, nothing to be said. I just wanted to get some opinions, which you all have kindly given me. Any attempt by to dispute liability and or even get split liability sounds pointless.
One of the few posters that seem to accept the suggested conclusion so quickly (which is good) , we don't know how it will finally end up as the readers are not the underwriters.0 -

My Last Question on this, if you don't mind :
On a road with two left lanes, is it pemissible to turn left down a side street from the outer lane, without having already moved into the inner left lane closest to the street and does this have any bearing on being unsighted as the cars were not in the inner left lane you would expect for vehicles turning left ?0 -
Quite permissible. Were there cars parked blocking the left lane as the Google view shows no yellow lines so quite possible.
Some other scenarios. Initial car overtook lorry and then decided to turn left. Lorry (as is their wont) swings out to the right before taking a left hand turnThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The inner lane was clear, although there is a bus stop a bit earlier in that lane were a taxi was pulled in, but plenty of room to move back into the inner lane if approaching with care and the intention to turn left. The first driver flew up at speed really quickly, probably above the speed limit for this road and braked heavily and couldn't have made it into the inner lane, likewise the lorry behind0 -
My only issue with this, is that both vehicles approached and turned left, from the outer left lane of the main road as opposed to the inner left lane, they did not move into the left lane prior to turning left, this would not have help my viewing of things. Thanks for your views
It's highly likely you'll take most, if not all liability for this.
The speed of the vehicles etc is irrelevant because they are already on the minor road (that's what makes it irrelevant) and you are expected to yield to that traffic.
The best case I can see for you here is that your 'only' 75% to blame.0 -
As I said earlier, you may have a chance if there are independent witnesses although I wouldn't place bets on it. Ultimately it was up to you to ensure it was safe to emerge into the road.
It also begs the question as to what may have happened should a child have been approaching the lowered kerb when you reversed.0 -

Sorry, when I say reversed thats a bit of an overstatement, I gently move back about 50cm...very little movement at almost no speed, it was just to avoid the oncoming vehicle, my nose and wheels were on the road already. the car came quick from behind and cut in infront of me, even though I was on the road already.0 -

I had started moving onto the minor road before they arrived ( my nose and wheels were on the road, the first car cut in, right in front of me, from the outer lane, almost like he was turning right from the other side of the road he came in that wide0 -
Which is where it leaves you a little wriggle room because vehicles turning into the minor road should be prepared to give way.
The problem is that they aren't obligated to give way until you are established on that road, and once you've stopped, you have to start all over again to regain that establishment.0 -
If you'd have carried in and one of them potted you mid ships, we might well be looking at something more favourable to you (in liability terms) alas you might also be writing on here from your hospital bed.0
