Anyone local in liverpool will know this road. Just after u leave Jericho lane going towards city centre you enter a two mile no stopping zone. Anyway a police camera van was parked off the road on the grass doing his duty. If you got caught could you argue he was parked illegally in a no stopping zone? Didn't get caught as 30 limit. Just first time saw him there in over 14years of using that road. Can the police just set up anywhere or have to stick to a pre set list of locations

I believe they are allowed to park in areas where parking is otherwise prohibited.0

You can argue whatever you like, but will it do you any good?
It won't prevent prosecution.0 -

I believe so.
Parking restrictions etc are set out in Traffic Regulation Orders. It is an offence to contravene a TRO, unless you do so under the direction of a police constable, or some such malarkey. I would imagine that the Liverpool speed camera partnership is operating under the direction of Merseyside Police, so they can park wherever the (deleted) they like.0 -
It's totally immaterial to the offence unless you could conjure up a good argument under s76/8 PACE.0

Yes it is as you leave the roundabout. There is a sign designating no stopping for two miles. He was on the grass verge not the road first time saw him there usually he is in the layby after the Brittania pub.0

If he is parked illegally, what would you do about it?
Meantime, if he nicks you, any offence he may be committing is totally irrelevant to your case.0 -
They're not run by the Police, they're run by the local camera partnership and manned by civilians.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Police, Fire and Ambulance can only park dangerously when being used for their intended purpose.
So no there is no get out of jail free card due to where the van is parked.0
