Start to place another order and use a camcorder to film the issue happening. Then you have some proof of what happened.

I have just received the refund through chargeback on my Santander card. So thanks for your suggestions.

It's unlikely they had a case if I had informed them of the issue and correct address two days prior to dispatching the item.

Neither should there be any reason the address should change twice when changing the page so I'm confident there is a problem with some aspect of the software beyond my control.

Sportsdirect informed me that I had a previous account. However, I can only find one now, so perhaps they deleted the new one. One scenario is that the problem only occurs when two accounts conflict in some way. Whatever, it's not my job to solve their problem, and I wouldn't risk buying anything through them again.

You should complain to your card company if they have sent the goods to an address that is not the card registered address. Try buying one of their £1 mugs and see if the same happens.

It does sound feasible as a server-side glitch. Anyone who imagines any size of company is immune to programmatic bugs is not working in IT data system development and integration. All out takes is a malformed 'where' clause and you get odd, hard to trace bugs like this. I can also imagine that a company whose ethos is zero-hour contracts and cost-cutting might not be spending liberally on their IT either.
