Sportsdirect customer service

I can't remember, but probably not since this software was in use.
I repeated the start of an order, and their system seems keen to place the same (wrong) address as soon as my surname is entered. This seems to be part of their own auto-fill, as if it recognises a customer with that surname; it wouldn't do this with Amazon or Ebay.
However, more alarmingly even after changing it, it can slip it back in without you realising it, as you go from one page to the next. This is what happened, although exactly at what point this happened will be difficult to prove.
They seemed well prepared for the complaint, as if they are used to this. Providing the confirmation address is sent to you, that's where it will go.0 -
Ah, now this is different, could I have logged into someone else's account?Thank you for your email, I have checked your account and the only address details we have is [same house number] [total different address and postcode (Luton, Berkshire)] this is the invoice address and also delivery address we do not change customers details as this can only be done by the customer logging into their account, your parcel is showing delivered and signed for on 23/03 at 12.30pm by [My surname but wrong gender] if you are saying you did not enter these details please send me a copy of your email confirmation and I will pas this over to be checked out for you,
checking on my passwords, yes I do have an account and it automatically signed me in. Perhaps when I first enrolled the false address got entered, do to therir auto system?0 -
I did check for previous invoices, and Sportsdirect did indeed send a package to the my correct address in 2013. I have never moved or changed it.0

Are they saying the address is "Luton, Berkshire"
As that is also an error, (Luton is in Bedfordshire) could that also add to the suggestion that their system has an error.0 -
I've worked for a similar company and these tended to be customer errors.... There was absolutely no way that a computer system selected some random address, and it would only be selected if the customer inputted the address onto the system. I'm tech savvy, and no customer has ever convinced me otherwise!I can't remember, but probably not since this software was in use.

I tell you what, the main owner of SD (Mike Ashley) is a smart business man (and a crap football director I might add) and it is astoundingly unlikely that he would have a system which were to store (incorrect) address information based solely on a surname (which is subsequently in breach of dpa) ESPECIALLY when you consider that firms which are a fraction as good as SD have systems which work fine. It is just so much more likely that you've messed up here! If you haven't messed up then I wish you all the best of luck in getting a resolution, but I genuinely can't see this being a system error but rather a human (your) error...0 -
Wherever it's Chrome, sportsdirect software or an interaction between them it definitely changed the address twice during application since I had to type out my address twice and it changed it back to a Luton address. It's not something you forget or a problem I've encountered before, and I order plenty of stuff on the net.
I will claim through Chargeback as suggested as I seem to wasting my time with this company. Infuriating customers is never a good policy, especially for a £25 quid product.
Unfortunately, the only proof I have is the email (which they received) I sent out warning of them of the incorrect and correct addresses two days before the package was sent out. However, this isn't enough.
It seems to me sportsdirect is run by someone who is operating a service cut to the bone in terms of staff and customer services.0 -
Agree Sports direct customer service is atrocious.
I bought some Carlton Shuttlecocks on Wed evening from sport direct. I play on Thursday evening for less than an hour and already 3 of them had broken and were unusable. Took them back to the shop on the Friday evening expecting an easy refund and was flatly refused with the manager of the shop telling me that is what happened with these shuttlecocks.
I did explained that under the sale of goods act that they owed me a refund and the manager told me I should write to customer services as she didn't know the law and that wasn't her job.?! Carlton sports is owned by sports direct so they are both responsible for the poor quality of the item and for contravening the law when it comes to refunds.
Have decided to never purchase again from them and report them to trading standards. It's only 15 quid but we shouldn't let them get away with this rubbish.0 -
I've got to agree, if this was a Chrome or SD issue it would affect thousands of customers. Generally where there is a one off error the fault lies with the customer.
OP, are you able to replicate the issue?0 -

Either you are trying to hold Google Chrome liable with their auto fill feature (won't hold up in court).
Or you are trying to argue that SD has given you access to personal data for someone who is not related to you. That is a huge DPA breach and you should be informing relevant parties immediately if this happened.
I'm not really seeing evidence of any other possible problem!I will claim through Chargeback as suggested as I seem to wasting my time with this company. Infuriating customers is never a good policy, especially for a £25 quid product.
Given the evidence (lack of), I hope they decline your chargeback at this time. Company shouldn't be penalized if you've made a mistake!Unfortunately, the only proof I have is the email (which they received) I sent out warning of them of the incorrect and correct addresses two days before the package was sent out. That isn't "proof" I'm afraid, or if it is then it is weak. SD can simply show them the invoice, and show the court that their website does not contain such errors (unless it does, in which case happy days for you!)It seems to me sportsdirect is run by someone who is operating a service cut to the bone in terms of staff and customer services.
Hahaha, have you ever heard of a football club called Newcastle United?:D
