"Hello, Police what is your emergency please.."
OP: "Well, I took my car for an MOT and the tester ripped my wiper blades.."

I disagree, if he rings 101 they'll have a bit of fun with him.

I went to a fast fit place and they modified the exhaust of another car to fit. A bigger bodge is hard to imagine. I went into the manager's office to rant at him. Behind him were large poster's encouraging them to achieve £1 million in sales that year. They were in competition with other branches to sell the most. I think it is this sort of attitude that creates the problem.
  • Or just take details and give him a log ref.

I agree and I suspect that what's really happened, they get a bonus for selling.

It passed the MOT 3 advisory issues, rear pad, rear discs and rear number plate (rear wiper was fine ;))

No mention of the front discs and pads that Hlafords also said were an advisory and the wiper blade that halfords failed passed, the other one had be be changed because of the damage they did.

So halfords MOT fail = almost £200 in repairs to pass,
Local garage MOT on same car = pass with 3 advisory issues.

Shame on you halfords stirling for ripping your customers off.

    What was the £200 for?

You can do the wiper blades yourself. £2 from Wilko or £10 from a motor factor (likely to be no better that Wilkos)

So the second garage agree with halfords that the rear discs are looking questionable?

I love the bit on PH where another tester said (not during an MOT) that he'd pass them but would suggest replacing..
The local garage I brought it to this afternoon disagrees with you and agree it should be a pass but should also be replaced. So its going for another MOT somewhere else tomorrow and I'll wait and see what they say.

My MOT tester would say something like this to me.. "It's passed, but get xxx done on it". This way it saves clogging up the yard with another car that needs a retest.
