The plane was a new wide body airbus and was comfortable and spacious with 2 isles people could move about freely, food was good, service excellent. I also liked how Dublin has a mini-America in the airport so you get all the security and immigration checks done this end whilst feeling fresh and can virtually just walk out the airport the other end (at JFK anyway)
I was hoping the return flight would break too! but sadly not, crammed in a geriatric single isle United plane, but never again. I would rather take the short flight to Dublin for Aer Lingus in future.
We were re-routed onto Aer Lingus by Delta earlier this year after our Delta flight was cancelled. Thought the service was excellent.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I booked a direct flight for end of June with BA for £430, best price I could find after looking for weeks. Norwegian became more expensive after adding luggage...
There were cheaper flights on non-direct, but for me it's not worth the hassle, BA had about 8 flights a day and I could choose the time that suited me better.0 -

I flew with them to NY and some how managed to snag a front row seat by the door so had plenty of leg room, I thought the plane was very nice and modern. I'm rather broad at the shoulders but can't remember the seats being an issue (any more so than on any other flight).
We landed at about 8:30pm taxied for half an hour and were held up by the incompetent homeland security people so were pretty knackered by the time we got to the hotel at about 11pm.Current Debt: 0%.Current House Deposit: 7%.0 -
I can't comment on the service yet, but we are flying Manchester to JFK with Thomas Cook in June. It was £370 each return when we booked it last May.
We have paid £40 for an extra legroom seat on the way out, but it's already gone for the return!
That includes 23kg luggage and food, and should be on an airbus a330, with 2 aisles.0 -
If I was booking a break to New York this October I'd book a one way cheap fare to Oslo in the morning and start with an afternoon connection from there -I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks for the comments re Norwegian air. We have flown with them to Europe and found them really good.
I was just wondering what long haul would be like with them.0 -

Interesting! The one thing I have found with using Norwegian is that you have to book flights as soon as they are released to get their really good prices. Otherwise they're are not particularly competitive.
We found this both times we used them for flights to Europe. Booked soon as they were released, hand baggage only and got some very good prices for Barcelona and Alicante
For the U.S., I find Aer Lingas from Dublin really good.wil be keeping an eye on Norwegian though.0 -
