I am hoping to go to New York later this year (October) with my daughter for maybe 4 nights. It's a minefield out there when it comes to flight and hotel prices. Does anyone have any goods tips with regards to who to book with please, and hopefully somewhere that doesn't cost the earth. Thank you

Yes, read the thread in the link above.
I'd expect to pay around £450 each for a cattle class return plus c£200 a night for a decent twin room. c£1,700. Combining flights and hotel on a booking can generate decent savings.0 -

We have used Aer Lingus flying via Dublin for our last 2 trips and we have another 2 flights booked with them for this year. For this years trips we are staying in the Edison Hotel, we have stayed there brfore and never had any problems. The wife has booked direct with the hotel for April and via Hotels.com for our Sept vacation. The flights were booked direct with Aer Lingus.
There are many ways to book flights/hotels, some companies do a package eg BA.
Hope this helps a little

We flew with kuwait airlines. It's like long haul easy jet with asian food. But it got us there quickly and cheaply.
Forhotel's I'd make sure you are mid town, 30s to 60 is pretty easy to get to anywhere.0 -
As well as Dublin, have a look at flights that connect in Paris/Amsterdam as they are likely to be cheaper than direct flights from Heathrow etc. have a look at KLM/Air France for example.
Also have a look at Google flights and sky scanner to see good days / times for cheaper flights.PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)0 -
We are looking at Norwegian airlines to New York. Has anyone flown with them?0

Book your flight with the airline.
Book your accommodation with the hotel.
Don't let an agent get a cut. You'l get nothing out of it.
Look at Long Island City if you want a cheaper NYC hotel.0 -

They arrive in the evening, which is poor if you've taken a full day off work any way.
They have narrow seats with poor shoulder room.
They aren't that cheap in the low season.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

I have just got back from NY. The rubbish United Airline plane broke so I was switched at the check-in to Aer Lingus via Dublin. It was brilliant. The plane was a new wide body airbus and was comfortable and spacious with 2 isles people could move about freely, food was good, service excellent. I also liked how Dublin has a mini-America in the airport so you get all the security and immigration checks done this end whilst feeling fresh and can virtually just walk out the airport the other end (at JFK anyway)
I was hoping the return flight would break too! but sadly not, crammed in a geriatric single isle United plane, but never again. I would rather take the short flight to Dublin for Aer Lingus in future.0 -
