What does the DVLA do when they are informed that the signature on the V5C to transfer the registered keeper was forged?
It has only recently happened, we received an 'acknowledgment' from the DVLA saying that the registered keeper had been changed so we phoned and told them this was not done by us and sent everything back to them, as requested.
The car is kept at a relatives house as they have more room but is registered at our home address. We have fallen out with that relative and we suspect they want to sell the car in spite. We have tried to collect the car but the relative has put a crook lock on it (they have a spare set of keys in case it needs to be moved).
Has anyone had experience of this in the past?

We are hoping the DVLA will just transfer it back into our name and we'll try to get it back from the relative. If he won't remove the crook lock though, we may have to have it towed away!0

Does the relative allege that you owe them money for the storage of the vehicle or otherwise owe them anything? My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
No, the relative doesn't say we owe them anything. I think they just want to be spiteful.0

You mean a krooklock, one of those useless old umbrella handles that takes 20 seconds to remove with a ? Either do that and use your keys to get the car shifted to a safe location, or sort out the family feud that is turning one of the parties into a fraudster and potential thief.0

Think the ? means hammer,screwdriver etc...they dont take much breaking0 -
Very useful to put suggestions on a public forum, for those without the guile to think of the obvious solution themselves, on how to remove a secondary security device.0

No, but can leave you in the middle of a situation where they complain about you damaging / destroying their property and trying to "steal their car", with the police taking action on that while telling you that the dispute over ownership "is a civil matter" but the damage you caused is criminal.0 -
Can the OP fit a second lock or clamp the vehicle until the dispute is resolved?
It may prevent it being sold.0 -
Apparently, according to the police, if we damage the 'krooklock' whilst removing it we would have to replace it! May be worth it though!0
-
Locks can be removed quite easily with a bit of planning.
Is the car alarmed? I would set it off at 3am every morning. Or add a wheel clamp to it to prevent them moving it.
Remove a relay or fuse from the engine also.
They will need to prove you damaged it. Get a friend of a friend to cut it off.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
