Virgin with SS & SM is going up £2.50 PM (all HD channels), the new contract with the PL has to be paid for somewhere, those poor footballers must be on the breadline. As for the old "New customers only" cheaper bit, well its ever been so to obviously attract new customers.0

Of course, by requiring customers to take the Family Pack for HD, then adding annual increases, Sky are increasingly widening the minimum price for viewing in HD rather than SD, especially for Sports & Movies customers.
Whilst the cost of the legacy HD Pack added £10.25 per month to the cost of a subscription,by my calculations, the difference will have widened to £19.75 since 2013, if you want one of the premium packs (Sports or Movies) in HD:
From 1st June 2015:
Minimum price for Sky Sports in HD= £66.75
(Family Pack + Sky Sports + HD add-on)
Minimum price for Sky Sports in SD= £47 (Original Pack + Sky Sports)
Minimum price for Sky Movies in HD= £58.25 (Family + Movies+ HD add-on)
Minimum price for Sky Movies in SD= £38.50 (Original + Movies)
I cancelled the HD and I don't notice any difference!travelover0 -
Sky's £4 price rise is illegal as an Unfair contract term (Utc) for the following reasons and therefore I have cancelled sky with immediate effect, and sought a refund of any monies due me as I do not accept their new terms anyway. Please see wwwDOTgov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/284426/oft311.pdf for the legislation, for which they have previously already reprehanded Sky on other such clauses (see pages 32, 63, 77 etc!! wwwDOTgov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/332719/oft311-annexes.pdf ).
1. No reason is given, either in the terms or letter for the rise, other than their profit margin.
2. There is no corresponding term in favour of the consumer e.g. option for customer impacted to cancel.
3. The rise is excessive when compared to either RPI or LPI.
4. My contract is 50% off the standard price so the rise would academically be £2 not £4.
I am happy to take this to the small claims court should they so desire, at 10m customers this is £500m a year to them.0 -
After seeing Martin on This Morning I thought I'd ring Sky and give it go. Got put through to a customer service advisor who told me 'between you and me and the recorded message, get put through to retentions and say you've been with them for 15 years and because of price hikes say you want to leave' so I did. First offer was £5 reduction for 10 months with a new one year contract. Asked if there was anything else, came back with £10. That was were there was no further offers. So saved £100 over the next year 😀0

Sky have shown all the Champions League games live since I've had Sky Sports which is a good 4 or 5 years. It's called the red button. Either you're horribly misinformed, or BT are paying you to post this rubbish. BT will have to spend millions to have the same level of CL interactivity that Sky currently have.
TattyBear, just read your comment over the 'rubbish' I'm posting (how friendly you are!). Indeed I hadn't realised Sky had shown all the Champions league matches previously and may have been mistaken, although I'm sure ITV used to show the free to air one each week that wasn't live on Sky?
Bottom line is, if you can afford to pay minimum of £25+ but in reality a whole lot more for Sky, then go right ahead I'd say if money was no option. For BT TV customers, it's free for their coverage or £5 per month if not with the mention now of the Ultra 4K channel being launched.0 -
Sky TV hike again. I thought that when I signed up for a Sky 12 month contract with the offer via MSE link in August 2015 it was what it would cost me! Letter arrived today putting up my monthly cost by c10%. I take it that when anyone signs up with them we need to warn new customers that they should build in a 10% extra cost into their calculations. I will not renew of course.0

Your agreement is for a fixed percentage off, not a fixed price. The terms & conditions show that they can (and annually do)increase prices, with prior notice, but you have the option of leaving, penalty free, instead of paying the increase.
Incidentally this thread is 9months old.0 -
Glad I went. How much has it gone up in the last ten year?Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0
