Try checking in your yellow pages for cat charities, they should be able to help.
You could try the RSPCA, but friends found a dog, and the RSPCA didn't want to knowYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Personally I would report them for animal cruelty, that way they could possibly be arrested if they ever return to the UK.
That would teach them a lesson!
What area are you in? There may be an animal refuge near you.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Have a look at the search map at http://www.catchat.org/ for cat rescue centres near you. Cat's Protection or Blue Cross are usually pretty good, but there's plenty of smaller independent local ones.0

Oh - charlies_mum - stray dogs are the responsibility of the local council dog warden, not the rspca, that's why they wouldn't have dealt with it. If a dog is on private property and cruelty is suspected, then the rspca will get involved, if the dog is straying on public property/away from home, that's the dog warden.0

The Cats Protection wil take it in and wont have it put to sleep. They wait until it's homed.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

I was about to suggest the Cats Protection League. They will come and collect it, usually. One of my neighbours left some cats, they all hang about quite happily in the garden and come to be fed every day.
Are you sure the poor thing wouldn't get on with your rabbit? More surprising combinations have happened.0 -
That's awful. Poor cat. I can understand that circumstances might mean you can't take an animal with you but how anyone could just leave the cat behind. Just as well you're an animal lover. Good luck finding it a home xxJanuary budget

If she has health problems I would also suggest the CPL. The only time I have known them not to help is when they just didn't have the space. Hopefully they will also contact the family who's cat it was and charge them for any treatment or rehoming fees. One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
How could they do that to their cat? If they couldn't rehome her, they shoudl have had her put to sleep.
Niptuckfan, let us know what happens...0 -
Showed their true colours on this one ! Heartless swines !
They could have asked locally if anyone would like to have the cat, then if they had no luck take the cat to an animal shelter.
Hope they don't have an animal in their new home. They don't deserve one.0
