Recommend a cheap washing machine

I'm probably moving on in the next 18 months or so and won't be able to take a washing machine with me.

So a bit p'ed off that my current one has died and probably beyond economic repair.

So I just need a decent but very cheap machine - if it lasts 2 years will have done its job.

Not too fussy about brand at all.

Better if it has a separate temp control.

Anyone got any suggestions?

If you know of any offers so much the better.

Has to be from someone who will take the old rustbucket away - I gather that usually costs about a tenner extra.

The usual pick is Bosch. They probably not the cheapest, but good reputation on reliability.

Thanks for the reply Cisco but as I said I am looking for cheap.

    Bosch aren't.

No point me buying a "sought after" machine to then end up pretty much dumping. I was hoping my current rusty hulk would last me out.

    More suggestions please folks.

Check your local facebook groups, freecycle, gumtree etc for 2nd hand models - probably cheaper than brand new.

Currys/Argos now have reviews on their cheaper machines.

We had to replace the washing machine in a flat we rent out last summer. We bought the Beko ECO WMB81445L which is supposed to be energy-saving and our tenants were really happy with it so we ended up buying one for the house we were renovating before we moved in. It costs about £230 I think. You can adjust the temperature on some of the programmes. I mainly use the Everyday Eco programme which is set at 40° but if I want to wash in cooler temp water I use the cotton programme which is set at 60° but you can adjust it down.

The drum is big enough to wash a duvet at home which is a real time and money saver.

I don't think Beko is meant to have a great reputation but this washing machine has lots of really positive reviews and I've been very happy with it. We've been using it for 4 months and our tenants have had theirs for about 6.

The OP asked for a cheap machine and Beko would indeed fit the bill. We have sold literally thousands of them and had very few problems.

It's all very well people recommending stuff like Bosch or Siemens but if you can't afford it, it's pointless considering them.

People who can afford posher machines always like to brag about them and run down Beko but places like John Lewis sell them these days. They also like to repeat scare stories but all brands have their problems.

I currently use a Beko F/F which must be about 5 yrs old with no probs at all. I have an AEG washing machine for human clothes, a Bosch for dog and horse stuff and a Miele dishwasher.

One quick Google shows you can get a Bosch for £230 from AO.com with a 2 year warranty (who I would recommend for 1st class service) the same as the suggested Beko, I know which I would have. On the other hand another Google shows you can get a Beko from Very for £170

You cannot compare the cheap Bosch machines Theyre churning out nowadays to Bosch machines of a few years ago.

If it's only got to last 2 years, then buy the cheapest brand you can find on JL and it will have a 2 year warranty, regardless of brand. There is currently an Indesit listed there for £209. A terrible brand, but it should last you 2 years.
Or a Bosch for £20 more, which will have a 2 year manufacturer's warranty wherever you buy it.
