MSE News: EE reveals online streaming offer to replace 'Orange Wednesdays'

On 3rd April, EE Customer Service says she was going to register my mobile for EE Film club, and I will get a text to tell me it is active.
No text for a week, so I tried to send 'film' to 88141, and got "Sorry we can't find you on the EE system. Please resend JOIN & your landline to 88141......." This was on Sunday 12th.
Rang up on Tuesday 14th April. After asking around the "Backup Team" say it should be working, as they registered my mobile last week already. Tried sending 'film' again, and got a 9 digit code!!
So, the EE Film Club only recognises me on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays, otherwise it cannot find me! It should of course have said "We are closed, come back Monday to Wednesday."
Happiness too soon. The voucher code FAILED!
I had to register a credit card on Wuaki.tv, and you can only choose from the EE Film Club selection, which I did, but it still failed, every time.
Tried logging in using a Windows PC, and then the EETV box, both FAILED after I click "REDEEM".
Wuaki.tv has a Helpline, which pretends to find a customer service representative, but then says "No support agent is available", and you can leave a very brief voice message, and then it just times out.
UPDATE
______
It failed because of the credit card!
The credit card company called up, saying there is a block on my card,
because of the £1 transaction.
Fair enough, £1 transactions are precisely the kind of phishing action fraudsters will try.
Managed to redeem the 9 digit voucher code, and I have a movie in my "Library" for two days.
Another thing is kind of odd.
The EE customer service rep said I need a minimum of £25 on my Pay As You Go Vodafone mobile for the Film Club system to work. I assumed this meant they were going to deduct the £1 from the phone's remaining credit. Now it seems the £1 will come out of the credit card account. So what is the £25 minimum non-sense?0 -
It's a very poor offer. There are very few EE club films to choose from, and many are quite old. You can't search through either, so no doubt the idea is that you find the film you really want to watch and just pay full price. You don't save enough (£1.35 cost) but you could save around £100 a year on the full price if you can find a good movie to watch each week. Wuaki TV is more expensive than a £3.00 DVD hire from my local library. A weekly 7 day rental from the library will save £25 a year rather than streaming. I have stuck with Orange/EE for the film deal, now I won't need to!0
