Aldi pricing

Really annoyed with Aldi now. I buy their London dry gin on a regular basis. Its been £9.99 for ever. two weeks ago it shot up to £10.39, not happy but hey ho everything going up. Then picked up leaflet in store and they are advertising it at £9.99. I went back and had a fight with them, got my 40p back. I also took advantage of the "tell Aldi" blurb on the bottom of my receipt. Got a reply from them saying sorry and they would honour the price as advertised. Went in yesterday and was charged the higher price again, I asked for the manager, who was actually refilling the leaflet stands. He refused to give me back the refund because, he said, "It says prices are subject to change, and its changed". thinking I'm as well going back to Asda.

I'm surprised ASA hasn't pulled Aldi up, on their 'like brands but cheaper' claim, as comparison basket is own brand stuff - possibly lower quality?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

All this fuss over 40p. Maybe time to lay off the gin OP, it seems to be clouding your judgement!0

So on the thread about 'rights / moral question' https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5199891 you (correctly) point out that the customer is in the wrong for keeping goods they are not entitled to.
Yet here you seem to think it's acceptable for a retailer to overcharge a customer.
Why the double standards?0 -

The customer hasn't been overcharged. £10.39 was the price on the shelf and at the till which the OP accepted and paid for. There just happened to be some out of date leaflets on display advertising at the old price.0 -

Nothing to pull them up for. Their products ARE like brands and they ARE cheaper.0
