Inconsiderate neighbours, with 2 Barking dogs

I have recently moved into our new house.
.
Unfortunately, the neighbours have 2 dogs, which bark all day.
The three persons living in the house, go out to work, first one out about 07.30 last one out, around 8.55
I work 12 hour shifts, days, and nights.
When I come home of a morning, around, 7.30 I shower, and get to bed, for some sleep, as I will be clocking on again at 7.00 pm.
But these 2 dogs, bark at every thing they see.
They sit in the front lounge window, or in the front bedroom, upstairs window.
Every car that passes, every person, and when they see another dog, or the postman, or Amazon delivery, they really go ballistic.
I knocked on their door, a few weeks ago, just to let them know, that just 2 - 3 minutes, after the last person, drives away, then the dogs start barking.
She said "I know they do", and slammed the door in my face.
Totally totally selfish, I have a difficult job, and now made more harder, through lack of sleep.

How did you approach your neighbour?
I only ask as you could have got her back up with your approach, if I ever I have an issue I always try to sort it the nice way first.
Never the less I sympathise, start recording the noise on your phone and keeping a diary then contact environmental health.
You could try to sort something out with your neighbour again but sounds like they are all out so if it's not bothering them it doesn't matter, some people are just selfish.
ETA could good earplugs help you sleep in the meantime?0 -
For general problem neighbour advice see http://www.problemneighbours.co.uk/
Ultimately if that doesnt work report the noise to your council, see: https://www.gov.uk/report-noise-pollution-to-council0 -
would some sort of soundproofing help? or sleeping in another room?
People can get stupendously defensive of their fur-babies. The dogs can do no wrong as far as these idiots are concerned.0 -
Had my fair share of inconsiderate neighbours in the past. Not with barking animals but just the inconsiderate scum they were. I mean would any sane, considerate person start laying carpets at 3am in the morning! Or start having a row at 4am. Brings back unhappy memories.
I totally feel for you and hope your situation improves quickly.
An uncle of mine had a similar problem to yours with a neighbour's dog barking. His response was to put a radio on in the adjoining room, turn it up full blast and then go out to work or somewhere, give them a bit of their own medicine.
Trouble with these type of people is they can dish it out but cannot take it.0 -
A new neighbour moved into our road with two dogs and as far as I could tell, she left them outside 24/7. After about a week of constant yapping, my neighbour who lives right next to her posted a note through saying if she didn't quieten the dogs down and take them inside he would report her to RSPCA - surprise surprise, now you hardly ever hear them!0

its classed as anti-social behaviour .report to council they will send them a warning. They also w give youa diary sheet fill it in. then they will take action if it continues. They can get them to get rid of their dogs or send them to court if the noise continues.
However at first they wont know who has complained but usually they keep the dogs quite after a warning.
I know this causes a lot of stress and anxiety and people dont know theres a law to shut barking dogs up.
Tell the council that it is affecting your health too.“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

I pity you OP. You poor thing.
I also feel sorry for the dogs. Dogs only bark and bark like crazy if they are left alone for great lengths of time, and are ignored somewhat.
Report it to the council. They do deal with noise nuisance for privately owned properties as well as rented.
Thorsoak, what is doing a jagger? (Sorry to be ignorant.)You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
It's down to the owners why the dogs are yapping all day NOT the dogs. Our neighbour has 2 dogs, and the neighbours are in about half the time. The most they leave the dogs alone for is 2-3 hours. Sometimes they take them out with them when they go out. The lady takes them for a walk for 1-1.5 hours almost every day. We rarely hear the dogs, because they get a lot of attention and fuss and love. You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0

I would call environmental health about the noise if the neighbours dont do anything about it.0

You do realise that this is not the fault of the dogs do you not?
It's the irresponsible owners!You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0
