HO87 , yes I do know that NEWLYN act in two capacities , one , working for the courts and the second as a scum debt collector

in the original posting the OP said "Today I got a txt from NEWLYN stating they are going to be coming round to recover goods in order to pay for a parking ticket ."

would Newlyns be mad enough to lie , via a txt?

as a freelance debt collector , they have no right to collect good , or threaten anyone with that action, however its what they do best.

until the OP contacts them and gets the info , we will never know the truth

I suspect - but am always happy to be corrected - that the text alludes to recovery of goods but doesn't say that is what they are going to do. One favoured ploy of DCA's is to threaten to visit the alleged debtor's home with the sole aim of prompting them to make contact. This may be what they are doing but without knowing the precise wording of the text we can't really draw any firm conclusions. However, certificated bailiffs will exploit all opportunities to run up their expenses and the OP makes no reference to having had a letter or notice from a bailiff - just the text. That is what suggests to me that this is simple debt-collecting.

Importantly I qualified my post by making reference to the fact that Newlyn could be acting in respect of a local authority PCN. That remains to be seen.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

ok , i rang the number i have been asked to and the gentlemans name is tom perkins . he said he was coming to collect goods to recover costs for a parking ticket that wasnt paid . he asked for my postcode and it was refused .
i rang NEWLYN and they said that unless i can provide a reference number (which i have never recieved any correspondence from them so dont have the number ) they asked for my postcode again which i declined to give as surely with my name they could search my file . they said without providing them these details they will not be able to help me .

i am not really scared as to what to do . do i give newlyn my postcode ? please can someone help me . i am totally certain this ticket was parking eye and the ticket came through in the post some 10 or so days after the offence so its not a council ticket .

is there perhaps someone i can ring to help me as i am a foreign national to the uk and havent a clue where to turn now .

i also rang the number from where the txt came expecting to get through to NEWLYN but there was no answer Seconds later i got a txt from tom perkins on the number included in the original txt (not the number from where the txt came) and it said he was driving and couldnt take my call . I found it strange that he operates both numbers .

If you've received a letter from them already then giving your postcode and confirming your address doesn't change anything as they already know it

those guys are dealing with lots of cases every day , they could be indexed by your Christian name , your surname or even (wait for it) your postcode.

how is the bloke going to check and answer your questions if he does not know which case?

its obvious they need a Ref number , or failing that a post code to cross match you.

have no fear , refusing your postcode would only add about 15 mins (if that) more in doing a search for you via legal means.

if you want to get this sorted , you have to first get that info (company chasing you) , and get your act together before they knock on your door!

    get it sorted!

"hello NEWLYN , I rung you earlier about a txt I received from your company , regarding an overdue parking fine . I don't seem to have a reference number , yes my postcode is "xyz 1234"

can you tell me the name of the company that has asked you to collect?

    ok thank you

    bye

ok , i have rung NEWLYN and my postcode didnt turn up any outstanding accounts . they did a search on my phone number on which they contacted me on and seems they are looking for someone else and simply have an incorrect mobile number .

thanks very much for your help everyone that responded and now i can breathe a bit easier all be it that my wife didnt sleep a wink all night worrying about having to deal with a bailiff espcially as i work away from home all week .
