When doing checks they only show up people who have been caught.
Most people do not know even their closest friends at all. I had a boyfriend once who I thought I knew inside out. He is now a woman and believe me when I say this, no one is more shocked about it than I was. We are still friends incidentally.So you're ok working with them if they've not been found out? This is the point you're missing, in any workplace you will find people that have done things you find to be unacceptable - you may or may not be aware of these activities. You can't pick and choose who you work with!

You missed my point entirely. I was referring to people that are p a e d o p h i l e s and have not been caught/arrested/convicted yet. There are plenty of people that fall into that category and no amount of "checks" done by a company will find them out until the old bill knock on their door one day like what happened with the OP's colleague.Original Total: £34200.78 / Current Total: £24017.00 (July 2017) -29.88%!

There is a misuse of terms here about child molesting and p****philia. The latter is a psychiatric disorder. Not all of these people are molesters either. Yes pictures, videos etc are not acceptable but if he was taken to the court and given what it was thought to be appropriate sentence.
It is also funny to assume that everyone we know will be clean as a white sheet, truly innocent etc. Couple of months ago a manager in a big audit firm was found guilty of running a sex ring with his brother. So no amounts of checks or trust will be helpful.ally.0 -

I'm assuming this press article was correct and this pervert was found guilty due to evidence of getting his kicks by viewing harrowing scenes.... In many countries he would of been strung up from a tree and skinned alive, even that's to good though for these sub-humans.A nice guy!!!!.....No punishment is enough, ask any child or parent of a child that has been subjected to this cruel part of our society... Him and his sort provide the audience for the vile animals that commit these crimes and should not be treated any different...

OP unless the crime has an impact on the job role an employer can not use a criminal offence against someone. What often happens is the employer finds some other reason to get rid,0 -
My brother-in-law got caught with 2,500 images of child !!!!!! (most of which were of the highest cat.). At the time, he worked for a Colchester-based company that made gift cards and top-up cards for phone companies and major retailers.
When he told his employers that his home had been raided and why, they made the decision that they wanted to keep the company name out of the press, so paid him off to leave with immediate affect.
As luck would have it, he got 9 months, suspended for 2 years with 10 years on the SOR. As part of his punishment, he cannot use any device to connect to the internet without Net Nanny on it. This would have caused a major issue for his employers should he have been kept-on.
Strangely, my B-in-L was also married with 3 kids (all adults though).
As for 'would you work with a sex offender'?. well, I judge people on how they treat me. Over the years I have worked with a reformed drugs dealer (he got 8 years), a sex offender and various other criminals.Never Knowingly Understood.
