Anyone else suffering with constant pain?
I've got osteoarthritis and atm its a really bad flare up.
My back, hips, neck knees and even feet ache and I can't get any relief
My back always aches but its worse than usual.
I take medication from the Doctor but still no relief from the pain.
It's getting me down!
Any advise/support/help from anyone would be appreciated
Thank you

Chronic pain is very distressing, and if the medication you've been prescribed by your GP isn't helping, perhaps you should discuss it further.

What medication has the doc given you and do they include painkillers.
I know it isonly maybe a temp measure but go swimming for an hour.....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Pain the best is to ignore it or put it on the back burner by carrying out some form of task .That can be as simple as talking walking shopping anything at all .Not easy i must admit but it does help . A bit like hitting your thumb with a hammer it overrides the other pains .
How old is your mattress is this making your condition worse ??
Hot Water bottle really can give a bit of ease as well .0 -
My Doctor prescribes 8 paracetamol and 8 ibuprofen a day + I take glucosamine and cod liver oil.
I always have a warm wheat bag on my back when I'm sitting down.
I have fibromyalgia as well
I do walk a lot ( We have a dog) and keep busy but the pain is relentless.
I have physio every so often and have seen a chiropractor - nothing seems to help
Unfortunately I can't swim - terrified but yes - being in the water does help
Thanks to you all0 -
Paracetamol or ibuprofen don't help with fibro.....There are several more effective medications, have a look on the UKfibro forum it's very helpful.0

I agree with poppie68, Paracetamol is a painkiller and ibruprofen is an anti inflammatory. Neither of them actually treat anything.....
Ask your gP if you can see a consultant.
You don't have to be able to swim, just get in the water up to your shoulders and gently exercise with your feeet still on the floor.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I live with chronic pain. I take pure Codeine in short bursts and use heat pads in between times, along with long hot baths and lots of rest.
I can't take Ibuprofen any more, as I started to get an ulcer, so they put me on Omeprazol to counteract it, but it didn't work. So they tried me on Lansoprazol and Naproxen - which didn't help my stomach at all, but helped with the stiffness/aches, annoyingly.
Now I can't take any NSAIDs because they mess up my stomach so codeine is the only thing I'm on. I don't seem to have a propensity to addiction so I can use codeine sporadically, as/when I need them.
You need to see your GP again - Paracetamol/Ibuprofen are useless in treating long term (chronic) pain, in my experience!0 -
I really feel for you Chrissy. As a fellow Fibromyalgia sufferer, I know what it's like to have relentless pain and once the pain has improved in one area of my body, it's got worse in another part.
I agree with the others that Paracetamol and Ibuprofen aren't helpful. Have you tried other prescription medication? I've just started Pregabalin. I wasn't keen and put it off for weeks but I couldn't carry on as I was.
Two things I have found beneficial are acupuncture and hydrotherapy. I had never previously tried acupuncture but had an open mind. She also suggested dietary changes (reduce dairy and gluten intake) and supplements (currently taking liquid magnesium). The effects it has are amazing! I don't see it as a cure but as a management aid. I started hydrotherapy a few weeks ago through the national charity Back Care. The sessions are held in the spinal unit pool at my local hospital (only chest depth water and wonderfully warm!) and are run by a physiotherapist. I paid a membership fee (£15) for the year and then £5 a session. Well worth it!
Have you seen a rheumatologist at your local hospital?0 -
Yes I suffer from chronic back pain, Osteochondromas (Multiple hereditary Extoses) which makes walking really painful. Am on Gabapentin and Zapain (co-codamol) pain is still quite profound. All I can say is, if I still feel like this with my medication, how much worse would the pain feel without them, It is soul destroying some days and I had to hound my doctor to send me for some xrays, finally getting to see an Orthopedist for my bones. Sometimes it feels you aren't being taken seriously and after waiting 4 months finally got a letter for Physiotherapy yet again which done more harm than good the last time, but I'm willing to give it a try and see if there is any way to reduce the pain even slightly. But I feel for you OP ask your doctor if you would maybe benefit from Physio .chrissy3634 wrote: »Anyone else suffering with constant pain?
