Does anyone know what happens at the interview with the primary school principal please??
Does the school write a report on pupil and do parents get to see it??
Just wondering what sort of things are written and if other test results are sent (Pie & Pims tests). Hope someone can answer my questions x
  • As far as I'm aware it's just the chance to fil in your school
    Choices
Pies and pims only used for sc or appeal x
  • Anyone going to ask for raw scores? We are very pleased with a score of 103 but I would be interested in seeing the raw scores as I think she scored higher in practice papers than in the real thing.

You fill in your details on the form, put your school choices in order and the put the AQE or GL scores in the appropriate place, tick if they are the oldest child or a sibling and then you and the principal sign it - you get given a copy to keep - all very unexciting - the only time you add anything else is for special circumstances.

This is the 3rd time I have done this in 4 years so am well versed in it!

I probably will as I got them last year for DD, interested to see how DS did in his 3 papers as DD's marks were nearly identical across all three papers last year.

    hi
ive just read all of last years thread, and this years, today, I was hoping to feel a bit more relaxed about my daughters school choice and her score but im still freaking out haha

she got 104 (February bday) and wants to go to BRA. should I be worried? its that or the local secondary as where we live everything else would be at least 2 busses...one into town then wherever from there. is anyone else confidently applying for BRA with a similar score?
  • K4s yes definitely try. I don't think BRA cut off will ever rise to 104. I don't think these scores reflect children's abilities and it's just to get through the door really!

Thanks. I'm so very proud of her score as I thought her nerves would have gotten the better of her on the day...her nila and Nina have always been quite high though so the ability is definitely there, I never doubted that. I myself didn't get high enough for BRA and had to go to Belfast High (b in the 11+), so I'm glad she did better than me then!! My eldest chose not to do it and is in the top class at the local model school, and is doing fantastic there so I've no issues with the local secondary, but daughters choice was BRA so I don't want her to be disappointed after all of her hard work. Her best friend got just a point below her and they both want to go together so best case scenario is they go together this coming September .... Then I can relax for a few years until dd3 decides what she wants to do :j

So does nobody think the record high number of kids sitting it will push the lowest accepted scores up per school? That was my main panic. Plus the intake site says BRA's lowest accepted was 97 but I know a boy who didn't get in with 98 last year....so is it special circumstances? Is the intake site not reliable? Victoria college have been the go to for this area if your child didn't get the 100 for BRA but according to the site, last year their lowest was 99! It's all left me so confused about choices tbh.......
  • Looking for some input from you lovely guys on here. I am getting the impression the scores are really high this year. Is anyone else getting this impression ? Is there a way of finding out the statistics ? We are hoping for Grammar but with a score in the 80's I am wondering if the cut off for most Grammar schools will be high. Really appreciate any feedback at all. Thank you
