Well all my June ds passed exam and we chose his first choice secondary to suit him . He got it where others missed their grammar choices and beat secondary and they are having to settle for third fourth choices . My ds has been for induction had his assessments and is quietly confident about his prospects in big school . Being a June boy I feel has impacted his score as if he was flung it this year he would have sailed through . What else an it's me is that if he had have been a girl Goung to the local girls grammar with the same score he would have had a grammar place as there have been a good half a dozen kids got in with the same grade as my ds . Fortunately my ds is clever enough to know that the school doesn't really matter it's the same work he will
Do and he will thrive at his first choice secondary so much so that he has already started his reading list and ready for September to begin . If can be disappointing but this test is by no means the end of the world kids shouldn't have to do it . I have a June dd the very youngest in the year who will be starting p6 in sept she will be trying the exam to to give her the same option to consider a grammar school place for her if she wants too
Good luck everyone in their new schools x

I am going down the appeal route also but only submitted my intention to appeal the to Education Authority about an hour before the cut off this afternoon! So no idea how long it will take was there nothing in the paperwork to give any idea of a timescale.

Good luck with the appeal process. I think you are just right as the amount of children I've heard of getting into schools with special circumstances has been incredible! When you have a children in the class getting in with 93 and another child not getting a place with 96 it really is an unfair system.

We are also appealing, not sure if it will do much good but feel theres nothing to lose. It was the same senario in the school we misssed out on, two children in in my dd class with grades C1 and C2 got a place yet my child with B2 grade didnt get a place, very hard to try and explain to a child when its so unfair even from an adults point of view.

My daughter telling me her friend with 100 not getting into Antrim Grammar, if that's correct that's a big jump from 89 last year . Really impossible to predict makes the whole process all the more frustrating.
I've just heard the same yet a 94 has got in from my DDs school. It is so strange.
