Thanks lyn, our TT pot for Dec has just past the £6 mark, so hoping for a late month surge!
We added to the busy last night by planning on wrapping half a dozen presents, 2 hrs later and approx 30 presents wrapped so we've only got half a dozen left. 2 of those to buy and the other 4 in postage transit. Mrs SJ planning as if baby will burst out at any moment (6 weeks left really).
DFOD I'm definitely sending that TT pot across tomorrow as we'd planned and it may work out nicely as 1 days worth of interest!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
I didn't have any to send this week.. but come 2016, sunday is OP day!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

DFOD - i failed again!! Spent Sunday assessing money before attacking the car purchasing, and i forgot! Anyway big news is the car is bought! Spent £500 more than had planned/wanted to but it got a much higher spec and 12,000 less miles so a no brainer really. I really dislike the whole car buying saga so im pleased its sorted before Christmas and new baby.
Been really busy with house jobs, having tidied garage with several tip and charity shop runs, tidied the conservatory (it was an unbelievable dumping ground in the last few weeks with getting things out the loft and garage roof for decorations and baby) and it now looks like a usable room again.
So add those jobs onto car buy, relatives visiting and loads of dog walks i'm shattered!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Congrats on the car purchase!
Hoping to get one ourselves in Jan/Feb, not looking forward to the purchasing process.

Hidden its awful! Well the build up is . The beauty of the 'information super highway' is that you can have all your prep work done without leaving the house which then narrows down the time needed.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

I refuse to let it drag on so I don't lose the will to live! Ex mobility car with less than 4000 miles on, so this will be 8-10 years. Maybe the deal could be no new car now till mortgage gone!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

Love that sort of thinking.I do this with all sorts of things (most exciting is when you get to library renewal date > [insert anticipated date here], but I'm a nerd).

Well I'm a little green eyed monster at the moment.
I want to be finishing work now, but noooooo. Have to work until 23rd!
I want to get a new car, but nooooooo. Not yet anyway lol. Looking to get one around Feb/Mar time next year before my little run around has a chance to fail it's MOT.
Still undecided whether to buy another cheapish car and run it into the ground like my current car or lease out a brand new car and pay like £150pm for all the fancy extras, no MOT's, no repairs etc.
I've only ever had 1 car since I was like 17 (like 8 years ago now!) It was about 3 years old when I got it, so have never had a brand new car before. I like the idea of paying for petrol, insurance and tax and nothing else. If it goes wrong then you just get it fixed on the dealers expense. Not having the stress/ effort for MOT's each year is a plus as well.
Only problem is I know I will pay more by leasing when I could just buy a little car outright. My first and only car cost me £4k. Only had tyres changed, nothing else needed. So I have been lucky in only paying £4k over 8 years.
I'm very undecided at the moment.
O and I'm jealous you have done your xmas shopping as well. Ive only got a few bits for my son and 1 present for hubby..... the rest is still in the shops!Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0 -
Just blitzed the mountain of CDs that we have nothing to play on for music magpie. Not for making money as such, just to get shut. Next is to convince Mrs SJ to sort some DVDs as that pile is phenomenal. I'll tell her she can buy a nice frock!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0
