    Hi SJ,

With regards to your 'bonus cash', if it were me I would make a bumper £1k OP to the mortgage - the psychological boost of being in the 20s would be awesome :):)

Then I would use the £313 to do something nice withe Mrs SJ and the boys, or maybe take mrs SJ away for a night? Before you know it you will have another little munchkin in your family which is amazing but also exhausting at first. Also nights away sans enfantes will be a thing of the past for a while!

But that's my girly point of view - having had two babies in two years I spent a lot of time craving an adults only night away! X:)

  • I've set myself a target of 425 this month which I hope to achieve. Next month will be easy peasy as will get FIT payment of about £150-£200 (unless the weather bombs!) so hoping for £500 plus September. I'm also paying off CC and saving about £275 per month too plus £250 for retirement funding per month. So that's were all my money goes!

ATB - Its so difficult and i am torn!! Every day i change me mind. I think i may just stick it in 5% current account and forget about it for a bit!!

OCC great post go me thinking were all my money after bills and living goes. So i'll post it!

    £423 Standard OP
    £200 Holiday Fund
    £80 Christmas
£140 Car Fund (Includes loan and maintenance, We haven't actually got a loan for the car as its paid off but i put money away for our next car in 3-4yrs
    £50 Long term Savings
£30 Kids Miscellaneous (for that time when 1 explodes and all their pants and shoes no longer fit)
£30 x 2 Kids Long Term Savings (University etc...)

For pension i have a private one that i pay £150 per month, and a work one that sacrifices £20 per month. Mrs SJ's is a very good work pension and she contributes £120 at the minute.

Once the mortgage has gone we'll really go hard then at retirement planning with the extra £1100 per month.

What to do when you can't sleep...? MFW of course!

So wild decision made - as of tomorrow (or today really) I'm going to change my Tilly tidy tactics. Everyday I'm going to round down to the nearest £1, then every Sunday evening to the nearest £5. Let's see how much that generates. I'll move to a holding pot then make a collective transfer on 30th/31st of said month.

There you go, 3am ramblings! Back to bed to try and sleep!

Hi SJ, that sounds like a great plan. Are you working today or at home with the kids? x

Mixed bag today. At work till 9-1. Then home (I'm very fortunate to have a 7min commute if the traffic lights are favourable) to have the kids for the afternoon. Then when Mrs SJ gets home at 4 ish I'll have a bit of work to do at home. So preying for it to be dry so kids can go in garden and bikes. Otherwise its film afternoon which means a guaranteed snooze for me then!!

Potential flaw in my new Tilly tidy tactic. After spending no cash today our account will be on an even number tomorrow! So I'll have to Tilly tidyca whole £1!! This tactic could prove costly, but effective...!
