  • Now this is my favourite time of Christmas. Those few days following the big 2 days, when we can just sit and veg without any plans, shopping needs etc... Sport, movies on the tv, kids playing with new stuff and consuming turkey butties at will!!

Made a nice 4p TT today. Checked our current account to see how we have fared and we are in good shape for January. January is an expensive month for us with birthday presents so im delighted that we are attacking the month without being 'behind' from Christmas.

4 days from account posting, and 4 days from the 99's.............

  • It sounds like you had a great Christmas, with great plans in place for 2018, I can’t wait to follow your progress :)

Enjoy the next few days, what a fabulous milestone to end the year on. Well done :T

Love this time of year too. Catch up and plan. Turkey butties not yet an option as turkey not yet cooked....long story!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Long story...its the Christmas lull week so i have a long time to read said story!!

Nah... it involves Mr Watty's family.... no stories about them are worth repeating as they are .......... insert own adjective probably politer than mine :)

  • Well another lazy day for me today and going to round it off by lazily watching darts! 4 out of the 5 of us did well for presents this year, but sadly Mrs SJ seems to have had the turn of families quirky gifts. So she's a wee bit miffed! Thankfully what i got her was about the only stuff she was happy with (I think/hope).

So she'll be off to the sales as soon as shes recovered enough from her hospital escapade on 23rd!

As usual i have money with no idea what to spend it on! hmmm... thinking of wireless headphones for when i have to watch sport on my ipad at home. Otherwise im clueless!

  • Hope Mrs SJ is all recovered soon!

I'm sure she loved what you got for her.
  • Hope Mrs SJ is recovering and that you are all chilled. If your house is anything like ours you'll still be drowning under a sea of new Lego, wrapping paper and general kiddy junk!
    MFW :)

  • Oh what a month... What a New Year present! Over £36k knocked off the balance in 34 months, and now with a 5 digit, rather than a 6 digit mortgage balance. Feels great not to have that big looming number at the front of the outstanding balance!

    Monthly Figures
    • Closing Balance - £99,371.84
    • Total Op's - £698.51
    • Net Reduction - £1,180.10
    • Daily Interest - £4.46 (6p reduction)
    • % Loan Remaining - 73.07%
    • LTV - 44.96%

    Diary Figures - 34 months
    • Ave Op's - £597.32
    • Ave Net Reduction - £1077.30
    • Cumulative OP's - £20,308.75
    • Mortgage Debt Reduction - £36,628.18

So, a major target has been met and its now onwards and upwards... The next major target is £86k as that will signal a £50k reduction, and hoping to achieve this by payment 49 (so 15 max, but hoping for 11, and payment 45).
