Little bit of a sore head this morning, but fully earned! In typical SJ towers fashion neither of us could make a decision about where to go, what food we wanted etc... Even to the point that the taxi was turning up and we still hadn't decided! Decision was made by the 40% off food voucher that was sticking out the letter box as we left the house! Food was fab, beer was beery and the company was fab (Mrs SJ may not agree...). We opened a tab when we arrived and stayed there. As i went to pay at 11.00 and get our last drink they'd already charged our card as they thought we left. 5 mins later they came over as they hadn't in fact charged our card and knocked 40% off the bill as an apology, on top of the 40% off the food they'd already returned as cash!!

So in true MFW fashion i'll OP that 40% and any money left from the initial £100!

I OP'd our weekly TT pot this morning which was £4.24, and i'm really looking forward to posting our June accounts on Friday (I've definitely missed it when i was absent from here). So far 6 ebay items have bids, and i topped up our funding circle account with £300 yesterday, all of which has been taken for loans already. In 9 months our funding circle of £1k has returned £49.74 in interest at 8.1%. This money is part of our long term savings and we have no intention of touching it for 20yrs, therefore i'm happy for it to sit there rather than in a bank at the minute.

Raining here so no outside jobs to do. The house is ridiculously untidy though so i think my attention will be shifted from outside to inside jobs! Though if i can hide in the garage 'pottering' i may escape Mrs SJ's eyeline!!!!

Well i didn't escape the house jobs! I sorted the kids rooms, and to be honest both boys rooms looked like a bomb had gone off in them! They've now been 'threatened' to keep them like that for at least 1 week...I'll give them 3 days!!

I counted out my small change jar which i haven't done for a while and there was over £10 in there. So i'll change that for a crisp note tomorrow in work, and I've already dispatched £10 out of current account to the mortgage. £189 made from MB this weekend as well.

Lastly 8 items have sold, all clothes so that adds £12.20 to the paypal pot. I've already spent it on car mats and a boot mat though! I've relisted the remaining 91 items, and next weekend we'll get some more listings done from the bag that is glaring at me in the corner of the living room!

You may recall us getting £200 back from British Gas when we re-fixed for the next 12 months. Well strangely they've put the direct debit up by £3 despite us overpaying by £200!! That must be the worst regulated industry there is!!

Paying out day has been and gone so I now get an idea about how we're looking money wise, and it's quite healthy. I'm looking forward to posting accounts on Thursday for June and the all important house brick colouring in (no way DS1 is doing it afte the mess he made last time).

TT of 60p for today and I've started to notice the difference that these small amounts start making when our daily interest is below £5. Each weeks pot is pretty much 1 days worth of interest. Only financial up and coming is our multi car insurance. Our requote looks good but I'll still have a scout round in case I can find anything with some cash back!

Car is fantastic and I really have found a bargain. Hopefully car mats will arrive today.

Glad you had a fab (& unintentionally frugal) birthday night out with your lady :)

I too have an eBay bag glaring at me in the spare room- need to imitate you and just get it listed and gone!

Your daily interest is looking good too!
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

    Happy Belated Birthday!

I think I might have to follow your example and do little transfers, I'd never thought of that before but you've shown how they add up.

They do add up. 83p this morning! Well I looked at car insurance and couldn't get near the re quote. In one way that's good but in another way I don't get the bonus of cash back in 3 months time...!

Well I have nothing to report but really wanted to post something after reading other diaries. So then I thought "well it's my diary so I can post whatever I want ". So here I am posting nothing much whilst Mrs SJ is watching a horror film and pooch is snoring away!

I am weighing up whether it's worth putting the bins out for them not to be collected, but Sod's law tomorrow will be the day!

Oh I have got some financial info to report, in that I made a snap decision to increase my pension contribution by an extra £50 per month and that will be active for July. I've always wrestled with the pension v mortgage dilemma so decided I'd throw some attention at pension. I'm certain we won't miss the £50 especially now all our maternity leave money has been paid back, and from now any wage increases (very minimal) I'll split.

So a nothing post ending up something...!
