  • Can I ask a quick fire stick question....

I have unlimited broadband (Sky till I can escape in 2 months) and just got a fire stick. After lots of googling I have kodi in it now and Genesis,1channel,Phoenix and SALTS on there and actually managed to watch a movie last night (most impressed with myself )
I then wanted to turn it off and couldn't, is it ok to leave on and connected? I assume it's not permanently using bandwidth or whatever it uses unless you ask it to download anything? I think as part of putting kodi on it I disabled the auto updates!??

Also I can only seem to find "sources" using. Salts currently, Genesis etc seem to fall over is there a step I missed

Sorry, complete technophobe here. Sky contract up in 2 months so getting us sorted now so it's a "seamless" transition when it switches off (hopefully ;))

    Thanks

    Ok, thanks
Took around 5 hours just to set up, but mum is looking for something with just the one remote to change all channels, hated the idea of switching off tv, then getting diff remote, switching on finding tv channel, then once finished switching off, finding other remote, switching tv back on and watching channel. if you get my drift:o

  • You can put your fire stick to sleep

If you load rockcrusher and Phoenix they are much better than Genesis which is not very reliable at all
  • How do I put it to sleep?

    Thank you x

Choice to put it to sleep just hold down the 'house' button for a few seconds and it gives you 3 options, one of which is 'sleep'.

Phoenix is very good. For films I use the link that looks like a pirate then go to new releases or hd releases. I've had revenant and bridge of spies recently working very well. For sport go Phoenix, woody, U.K. Sports then scroll down for the channel you want.

Overall it's just trial and error and you'll find add one that you prefer.

Genesis is also generally a good one on ours so I'm surprised f people say it's not great. Mrs SJ is currently watching John Wick!

Even on our unreliable box, Genesis is probably the one that works best now. Used to watch a lot of Showbox too but after an update it has been poo. Will keep an eye out for firestick offers :)
