0845 and 0844 phone numbers. Companies with no alternatives

New FCA regulations published on 23 July 2015 ban the use of 084, 087 and 09 numbers by financial services for contact by existing customers from 26 October 2015.
In the meantime, look for an 01 or 02 'calling from abroad' number or search on sayNOto0870 for a suitable alternative number to call.
If the 084 number was not accompanied by a declaration of the Service Charge in close proximity to the number, they are in breach of Ofcom regulations that came into force on 1 July 2015.0 -

Now try Googling Thomas Cook North Finchley. You get the 0844 number. (The number you show is not for North Finchley and does not take calls for North Finchley.)
BTW 1: don't you think I had already tried Google?
BTW 2: there's no need for bold and giant text. It's considered as 'shouting'.0 -
Well, bully for you.

So what can the North Finchley Branch do for you that TC head office can't? Do you want to talk to your girlfriend who works there maybe?
And as for the bold and giant text - some people need shouting at.
And I've just tried Googling Thomas Cook's local branch in nearby Kidderminster, and the phone number it gives is - wait for it - 01733 224800, which probably goes to TC head office as it's not a local number. So maybe the 084 number shown for North Finchley is just an error that someone has forgotten to change."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
What is the problem? If you want to talk to a company which only has an expensive number to call, send them an email asking them to call you. If they don't, you have a choice: either decide you don't want to do business with them, or decide you do want to do business with them and call their expensive number.
It's not rocket science....My postings reflect my lifetime's experience and my opinion. You are quite welcome to respond with your experiences and option, whether similar or different.0 -
Since you are apparently a 'Fantastically Fervent MoneySaving Super Fan', I take your comment seriously.poppasmurf_bewdley wrote: »So what can the North Finchley Branch do for you that TC head office can't?Do you want to talk to your girlfriend who works there maybe? And as for the bold and giant text - some people need shouting at.So maybe the 084 number shown for North Finchley is just an error that someone has forgotten to change.
The point is, it's wrong and doesn't adhere to the regulations; and the former TC CEO (now 'resigned') justified the use of the 0844 number by relying on the obscure exclusion clause I mentioned above.
I think we've milked this for too long.0
