I dial WeQ4U from my mobile and (touch wood) I've not encountered any problems yet.
Am I right in thinking at some point this year 0800 numbers will be completely free from mobiles too? It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Dial Direct car insurance
The numbers on the contact us section are all 0844 numbers.
A search on saynoto0870 lists a 02 number but it isn't verified. I thought the law change meant the 'local' number had to be displayed, i shouldn't have to go searching for it.0 -

The financial services sector isn’t covered by the Consumer Contracts Regulations. However, the FCA has been consulting on a proposal that its members should charge no more than the basic rate for post-contract telephone enquiries. If accepted, the new rules are expected to be implemented during summer 2015.0 -

The FCA recently published new regulation that will take effect on 26 October 2015. From that date, financial services including banks and insurance companies must use 01, 02, 03 or 080 numbers for helplines to be used by existing customers. Numbers starting 084, 087 and 09 will not comply.
The new FCA regulation mirrors that previously published by BIS in December 2013 and which has applied to retailers, traders and passenger transport companies since 13 June 2014.0 -
Thomas Cook North Finchley still guilty! (Presumably other TC retail branches too.)
When I complained in 2014 to the TC CEO (the one who 'resigned' with a huge payoff), I was informed that they relied on an obscure exclusion clause that allowed them to rip off existing customers.
I have just checked again and the only number they have is 0844 335 xxxx. No alternative is shown at saynoto0870.com.
Partly because of this, I am most unlikely ever to be a TC customer. To misquote Groucho Marx, if I never enter a branch of Thomas Cook again, it will be too soon.0 -
If they are in breach of Regulation 41 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you can report them to Trading Standards via the Citizen's Advice national Consumer Helpline on 0345 404 0506.
Regulation 41 came into force on 13 June 2014 and requires post sales helplines for retailers, traders and passenger transport companies to use numbers starting 01, 02, 03 or 080.
They are probably trying to use the 'package travel' exemption which will eventually be closed by other sector specific regulation. The exemption does not apply if they offer other products or services.
If the 084 number does not have the Service Charge alongside you can report this to Advertising Standards as that is a breach of additional Ofcom regulations that came into force on 1 July 2015.

I've just Googled Thomas Cook. On the first page of the first entry, it says:
