Not really, most hospitals have a bedside TV/Phone unit, just at eye wateringly high rates to use...

I'd be happy to pay to be honest if they had them. But they don't!

I'm pay monthly though, I don't think they do them on the contract tariffs, just the payg.
Ah OK - I think that's a general problem with contracts, they have no flexibility, you're expected to predict in advance how much you'll use the phone for next year or two.

If you are in luck, then you will have a TV/phone thing above your bed that allows you to make free outgoing calls to local numbers.

If your emails are work related, then why not set up your email client to auto-respond with a message that you are uncontactable and without access to email or phone.

This one seems to have unlimited...unless it's not properly unlimited and there's a hidden cap?

Watch out for restrictions on tethering (ie using a phone or Mi-Fi to share the data)

Virgin state - You cannot share your data connection with other devices - known as "Tethering" - or use your phone for peer to peer file sharing, instant messaging or making internet phone calls.

    Basically in phone use only.

Can they catch you, Yes, Will they is another matter...

Definitely no by the bed tv things, and it definitely won't be work related anything whilst I'm in hospital! :)

That's fine.. I can get a sim and put it into a phone (my old one has a pretty big screen) and browse the net from there. That'll keep me within their rooolz. :)

Try this for £20. 15GB should do the trick. Just give EE your 30 day notice once activated. Then you can use it with a PAYG SIM in the future.

    Not my local hospitals.

So obviously there is more than one in the UK that doesn't.

Call Vodaphone, tell them your thinking of moving to Three because they have data deals, then just watch how fast they change their tune.

You'll need to do a careful survey of the signal in-hospital before laying out money.
The hospital on the edge of Chelmsford for example has near zero signal outdoors on 3 and EE with completely zero indoors on all networks in several wards I've visited there.
