Strange things people leave behind.

What is the strangest thing left in a house you have bought? Or the most useless thing you have left behind?

Our new house included a stuffed dead bird in a glass case, and a scale model of some kind of army base also in a glass case (hubby was an architect).
Been away for a while.

The last owners of this house left three skip fulls of stuff,I was'nt too happy about the half empty box of bullets in the kitchen drawer.

    A sledgehammer in the kitchen!

Maybe they thought I wanted to smash a few walls and make the place openplan?

A bed, fully made up with fresh sheets, a duvet and pillows.

Enough cat hairs to coat about 6 cats. It was behind the radiators, under all carpets, in the airing cupboard, on top of the kitchen units, everywhere.
Plus a lovely scent of cat pee so strong it made you heave.
No wonder they were always burning incense when we viewed the house.

An exercise bike, lawn mover (no lawn to mow), bed slats, lamp, one wine glass, cut glass pot, vest top, shoe stand, a metal frame for something we have yet to discover and a whole loft full of stuff inc picture frames, mirrors and lots and lots of empty boxes.

I can't remember all of it, but it was very random.

It was all a load of tat but I made a bit from selling some of it in a car boot sale- it's amazing what people will buy!

In our previous house the woman left wardrobes of clothes, coffee tables, beds still made up, make up, it was like she's just packed what she wanted and left the rest for us to deal with! Oh yes, and a swimming pool in the garage (a blow up one!). When we moved we left that for the next occupants as well!
  • Aside from pretty much a full complement of furniture & white goods dumped in the garden ...the most bizarre thing we found after buying our first house was a bin liner of letters in the loft. They were basically the letters sent to & from the chap that lived there before us during his spells in prison....there were quite a few from the previous 2-3 years! Took me nearly a fortnight to sort them out into date order & read them all - was like some bad soap reading what he had got up to with his mates & girlfriend :rotfl:
