Hold an account with Citi International Personal Bank in London, Jersey or Switzerland

We moved £20,000 to euros last Feb to buy a property, being told by moneycorp who we used to move it (and who were superb) that it was at its highest for 15 months. A year on, we are still in the buying process (good old French system!) and would have been 4k better off had we waited until now!
The moral - you pays your money, you takes your chances!I will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
Hi, looking for a bit of advice.
I had 9000 euro in a current account in Ireland as I used to live there. At New Year I transferred this into my partners Irish account as the current account was getting charges etc. This relationship has now ended and while I'm not concerned he will use the funds, obviously my family are worried this money is no longer in my name and think i should get it transferred back to the UK asap, despite the appalling exchange rate. Already I have lost had I transferred it say a week ago.
An Irish friend said to just leave it, but having done a bit of research online it seems many think the euro rate will continue to fall against the pound for some time to come, and won't reach the 0.85 it was when I was living in Ireland.
Any advice appreciated.0 -
For European countries, I just whip out the Saga No Fee credit card. Do you really see yourself paying the hotel bill in cash?
Depends which European country you mean. Germany, for example, is still very cash-oriented in terms of smallish payments (cafes, bars etc).Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
wow - up to 1.42 right now.
I have a hotel reserved that I was due to pay 2600 euros on arrival in June - tempting to pay up front as it will be 120 quid cheaper than when I made the reservation, but it might still get better arghh0 -
I read a post on here somewhere in January time & whoever it was suggested the Euro might reach 1.55 this summer..........
Don't think his name was Warren Buffet though.!!0 -
I need to transfer a rather large amount to a Portuguese account soon. Tempted to do it sooner rather than later. When I decide, should I send it in GBP or in EUR?0
