Should I pay for someone's phone I accidentally broke?

There would have been a few broken i-Phones and Tab 2s at the Tameside Stadium last night when we equalised against Ilkeston in the 85th minute...I am a mortgage broker. You've offered, he's accepted it as an accident which wasn't your fault. But if you feel you should, and you'd feel better giving something, then it would be a really nice gesture, and would make you both feel good, or buy him a pie at half time!0

Make a contribution. You'll feel much better. Otherwise you'll feel guilty for years and years (not saying that you should, only that you will!)0

I had 2 really difficult Money Moral Dilemmas, so duly emailed them to MSE, but they never got used, so I never got the advice I so desperately needed, so I do not contribute to these manufactured dilemmas. There is no point considering there is no one in need of the advice I would be contributing.0 -
I think you should just pay him. You have no option here IMHO.
Imagine yourself in his position. If it is entirely ones fault, one needs to rectify.0 -

But it's not his fault someone had their phone out at a !!!!ing football match.0 -
If you accidentally knock someone in a pub and they lose their beer you buy them a beer without waiting for the injured party to demand one from you so yes you should offer to assist with the costs to repair the phone....but there's a limit I'd offer up to £50 which should be enough to cover a new screen...I wouldn't cover the costs of any scratches...that part they'll just have to live with. As to my example in a pub I wouldn't offer to dry clean the injured parties suit if the beer spilt onto that.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Totally different scenario and not always.0 -
Definitely offer to pay as you knocked the phone to the ground. I don't insure my phones as so expensive, but I do buy a good quality case that covers the front as well as the back. I've dropped my phone several times but luckily the case has protected it every time.
I have noticed so many people do not have cases for their phones - one slip and it crashes to the floor in pieces!0 -
