Mobile phone contract ended but I still get charged the same

My phone contract ended a few months ago buy my service provider still charge me the same for my handset and monthly allowance.

I have called them to complain but they are saying I should have contacted them after the contract ended to switch to a different plan.

Should they be charging me same amount or only for my monthly minutes allowance

Your contract is the minimum term. Not a fixed term.

Your contract doesn't end it just passes the minimum term.

Unless you contact the company they will continue to charge you your monthly rate.

Not really sure what you expected.
The phone you got was actually given to you for free, they only ever charged you for your allowances or at least that's what all my contracts have been for the last 20 years.
You might be able to get a sim only deal if your contract is ended or see if you can upgrade to a better phone on the same contract price but your cost certainly won't just dropijce your contract tie in is up.

The contract continues until you give them 30 days notice, or ask for and use a PAC.
Some providers recently started to offer tariffs which split the monthly fee into airtime and handset charges, and these will then reduce at the end of the minimum term to airtime costs only. But they don't just end the contract after x years and disconnect you.
