How on earth did I miss this post  Well knock me down with a feather  You don't waste any time, do you? Great work, hope you don't have the company doing my work :( or rather not doing my work

On another note, feel slightly guilty reading the comments about your mother getting your shopping for you. My mother asks me, if I need any shopping, quite often, as she knows I work long hours, so I do take her up on the offer. But I feel that it is getting my mum out and about, where she bumps into old friends, neighbours or just people she knows, so feel that it is good for her to get out and about. Better than just sitting in the house, bored with no company :)

:( Are you having a roof replaced?

I don't waste any time because I know it'll all go on a car again. ;) Currently have £20k sitting about doing nothing, not attached to any business deal, not ready to pay debts or be invested and I WANT TO BUY A CAR. So. Badly. BUT I'm being sensible and spending on the roof and buying an XJS... :D

If your mother is happy with the arrangement, I can't really see the problem. :)

Today has been a really strange day. My son really didn't want the holidays to end. :( This morning was not fun at all! I've been really busy with music work which I enjoyed. Wife came back home from work with a coat she'd bought at lunch which looks like it came right out of the '70's. Apparently she's bought it for the period looks when driving the Triumph / Daimler in the winter. :rotfl: Can't really be annoyed with her when that's her excuse!

Have to also admit to a meal out this evening. :o Aware this really needs to stop and we're all taking our own lunches to work / school tomorrow.

  • No, not having a roof replaced, but maybe by the time the company get round to the repair I will need a roof !!!
There is 4 of us, all pay a factor, so when a repair is required to the building, we report to them, then they organise to get repair fixed. Only they take their time :( reported a repair required in MAY and we are still waiting for the repair to be mended :(

You spoke of getting the roof done a good while ago and now your doing everything - al expresso :) and another car, oops.

My mum is happy, and it is just every now and then, she likes going out, but sometimes she has nothing to go out for, which is when I come in, she then feels she is helping me and being useful :)

A bit puzzled re your last post, who and what makes you think that? I haven't seen any posts that would make you think that. On another note, glad your posting early, does that also mean an early night is planned. ;)

Alex resist that car :naughty: I totally know how you feel , I was itching to spend when I was given some money this year and spent hours looking at cars :D i do accept that you are good at knowing what to buy and selling it on at a profit- are you sure you don't want to buy and sell classic cars as a business?

Hope littlek settles in well :)

Re your mum doing your shopping - how old are you Alex :rotfl:. I wouldn't have thought you'd want your mum going round your house when you're not there - won't she just find things to ctiticise?

Congrats on selling the car :T. Are you keeping good records of what you're sending/making per car? Spreadsheets are great for this you know :D.

Good timing on the roof, just before winter
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Have you ever checked how much power your fridge freezer consumes? If it's as old as you say, there could be real savings to be made switching to something more energy efficient. I can appreciate the logic of not buying something new for the sake of it, but if you're losing food sooner than you should be, it's costing you more than just the electricity.

I'm puzzled by that strange post too Alex. Maybe something was removed before any of us saw it. I'm not aware of anyone being other than helpful (or at least trying to be:o).

I think you seem to have done rather well from buying old cars, enjoying them for a while and then selling them on. That seems like a good hobby assuming it works out cost neutral or profitable. If it means you're just splashing out on expensive (to buy and run) cars because they're a weakness then I don't think that's a position you're in at the moment. The cash you have really isn't spare. OK so you've budgeted for the roof but what about the bathroom and definitely a new fridge freezer is needed PDQ!!

In the interests of helping you to 'Eat Well for Less', this is the chilli recipe I use.

It's certainly not bland. I've adapted it a bit in that I don't add wine (what a waste!) and I add diced carrots, peppers and mushrooms because it makes the recipe go further but mainly because I like us to eat loads of veg. I use the best quality mince but the other ingredients are cheap enough. I never eat it on the day I cook it as I think it tastes even better after it's had a chance to marinade. I portion it up and freeze for a home made ready meal.

    Hope LittleK settles soon:).
  • We had a new kitchen installed a few years ago, along with a new fridge.
I could not believe the length of time we can keep fresh veg in there now.
It still amazes me now that stuff we bought ages ago can still be OK to use.

Doesn't sound very good, AFK. :(

I thought you lived on your own.

Nothing that matters. Something was said on another diary which I shouldn't have took the way I did. :)

Sleep has been terrible these past few night. Last night was a real step back; 2/3 hours after 4 or so hours of quite bad anxiety. Today was one of my busy days, only stopped at 10pm. Tired tonight and hoping it won't be more of the same.

:rotfl: I suppose I do in a way but it's a hobby that earns a few ££££s rather than a real business. :)

Unfortunately, my son isn't settling in well. One of the older children has been quite rude to him and he is struggling to get on in class. The problem in class is him not being the centre of the teacher's attention and the teacher not having lengthy discussions about the work / his interests and opinions. I've told him that school is different to home and very important but he wants to be at home. :(

    35. :o

I've just started to create a spreadsheet for this. :) As much as I've resisted in the past, I'm starting to see they have some really good uses. :)

Thanks, Gally. To be honest, I'm dreading the roof job.
