Can I remind you, any nonsense, and your all off . . . .
Apologises then everything back to how it was . . . . . You are stronger now and have your family behind you, so do not put up with any nonsense, and this is your normal now, not the way it was before, the old normal was nothing but trouble and unhappiness for you, they days are gone, you have moved on and hope you tell them this. If things haven't changed then its up to you to change them, and don't think you can't because you can.

I have heard about so many turning their lives round, whether it be losing 6 stones, give up drinking, getting away from a bad relationship, they have all been at their low points, and I'm in awe at their strength, to do something about it and then actually change their lives around.

Just read your last post - it oozes change - and all for the better :A

    Thanks, AFK. :)

Tomorrow is the day. Perhaps this is why I'm awake? :o

I think you do. Need to cut food spends. Would you be able to keep a food spending diary? that way, it normally hits home where it all goes, do you have a lot of food waste? Do the meals you cook, able to be frozen, that's where batch cooking comes in and let me tell you I was not a believer in batch cooking saving ££'s but I tried it, and let me tell you - it does.

I can hazard a guess and think you will find your butcher meat may well be your highest bill (not counting the wine :D) could have something to do with the variety or size of portions? What do you think?

Food spends go into the spreadsheet, you don't mean an itemised diary, do you?

We probably do have a lot of food waste compared to most as we don't plan ahead. Have tried it but it's come to the day and we don't really want what is planned, can't really get around that. I don't batch cook and freeze as I prefer food to be as fresh as possible.

I agree that our meat / fish bill is the highest. Can't see a way around that, though? We don't drink much anymore (once / twice per month) so the wine bill isn't bad at all. We don't have a greedy helping, I don't think (not overweight / about the same amount as my parents eat and they are not overweight) so I'm guessing portion size is about 'right'.

  • Yes, itemised is what I meant, tattycath posted tonight, she had a chicken and salmon, and was deciding what to have, so salmon tonight, chicken tomorrow, would the choice of two work for you thus reducing waste ? I think I read in your diary you prefer to buy fresh daily, if so, then just buy what you think you want for dinner than night, conferring, of course.

Now I'll off to bed, up in 5 and a half hours.

The problem with shopping daily for meat and fish is that you will probably buy exactly what you fancy and not factor in that you've had a few expensive days in a row so should really cut back and have something cheaper for a few days. Why not make a list of all the meals you like and 'grade' them as expensive, medium or cheap. Then keep a record of what you've had and if you've been having expensive meals then aim for medium and cheap for a few days. Knowing you though Alex they will all be expensive :rotfl: so look at some recipe books or go online for some inspiration. And smoked salmon for breakfast - high days and holidays only if you are serious about cutting food spending ;)*

*I really, really fancy smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for brekkie now. Would it be hypocritical of me to go and buy some :rotfl:
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Today has been an interesting one and surprisingly good for the finances ... I've unexpectedly sold the TR6.

It was strange going to see my parents today. Father was on his best behaviour but mother made it very clear she thinks she has nothing to apologise for and wants to see me at some point during the week. Both seemed to enjoy seeing their grandson though and were good with him. We had a nice walk and saw the red arrows flying over Bakewell this afternoon. :)

:rotfl: How long have you been reading my diary, AFK? Surely you realise the spreadsheet is an achievement ... itemising seems a step too far at the moment. ;)

Perhaps I ought to have a read of tattycath's diary. Not sure what I'd do if I had chicken one night and didn't want the salmon the next though?

Yes, I buy food daily. This year I've got more work at school so my mother is going to be buying food two days per week. :o If I get the PGCE course, next year is going to descend into my mother buying food five days per week, :rotfl:.

I'm not really sure where food becomes expensive? What would you say an expensive meal costs?

We do have smoked trout instead sometimes. ;) Not really sure it's that much a "treat", to be honest. Also, surely better to serve my son the smoked salmon rather than bacon with poached egg?

AlexLK - I see nothing BUT achievements in your Diary :T :eek:What was that, You Sold the TR6 :T :TEven the Red Arrows gave you a fly-by for that one :rotfl:

Let me see, eb@ying, selling, saving, talk of the roof and bathroom being done, even agreeing with GG re the decluttering :D, mastering Spreadsheets (something I've not managed - yet:o) having great discussion with DW, I could go on, you accepted my challenge way back with gusto and managed fantastic. And you did admit there may be something in the Lavender, after all :rotfl: :p

There's so many I could mention, but after a 12 hour shift with about 3 hours sleep, you must know how I feel, so it's off to bed for me Right Now !!! Hopefully be re-freshed by tomorrow night.

Well done selling the tr6 Alex :T

As for shopping , can't you just do it online instead of getting your mum to do it?

  • Well done on selling the car and on using the spreadsheet.
I'm far too lazy to go shopping daily for food, plus I hate shopping!
