Morning all. Hope any flymums have a terrific day.
I had a great day with DD yesterday and am spending today with her too. We're going to the pictures. I'm doing Mother's Day with DS on Thursday.
So far today I've watered the plants, WUDUPA the breakfast dishes, have lamb shanks in the slow cooker ready for tonight and have been in the gym and had a lovely relaxing bath.
Just having a cuppa and will then walk the dogs before starting my day with DD.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Emergency phone call yesterday resulted in rushing down to rural Berkshire to look after mum as sister had to go work. Left home at 2pm. Arrived here at 8pm. So am completely knackered.
Mum seems to be in more pain with her back. They think it is muscular, but don't know what is causing it. Been given stronger painkillers.
She insisted on driving me to the local shop today. She can't keep the car on the correct side of the road. Last time when she did this it was because of a steep camber on the road. Today it was the car's fault. Is there anything I can do? Can I contact the DVLA? Or her GP? Will they listen to me if I do? She struggled so much to get in and out of the car I shudder to think how she would cope in a situation which required quick reactions.
Hope everyone is having a good Mother's Day.
Should be home tomorrow, so will see you on the new thread.:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Sorry your mum is causing you more worry, CY.cyclingyorkie wrote: »She insisted on driving me to the local shop today. She can't keep the car on the correct side of the road. Last time when she did this it was because of a steep camber on the road. Today it was the car's fault.
If it's "the car's fault", my reaction would be to say "then it cannot be driven again, for the safety of everyone on the road" and take the keys away from her. Harsh but very necessary. If she protests, book it in "for a full service" and ask the garage to condemn it.
Seriously, she should not be driving under the influence of strong painkillers.... Talk to her GP.
Love and hugs to all, especially those separated from loved ones or coping with emergencies or difficult relationships today. Whatever sort of relationship we have with our mums, they brought us into this world, and we can thank them for giving us the opportunity to get to know our lovely FlyFriends x0 -

that's great news mummyroyof3
cyclingyorkie we are having the same problem with MIL with regards to driving. She is having blackouts (the neurologist thinks it is due to her having low blood pressure and the GP has put her on BP tablets but she won't make an appointment to review them - but that is another story) and the neurologist told her she has to inform the DVLA. Her comment to me was "if I couldn't drive I would be lost and my independence would go". She didn't see the argument I made that she shouldn't be driving as it is dangerous. She lives in Birmingham, we live in Durham so not close enought to do anything about it. It is a worry though.saving for ds2's summer international scout camp - £200

Nice day today. Mum came to playbarn too so baby cuddles, free scones and fun abound!
Lots achieved at home too - more playing on bikes, homework done, laundry sorted and uniform ready for morning. Kiddies are clean and about to go to bed. I've cleaned 3 bathrooms inc floors and tidied kitchen after kids dinner.
I've not had any yet and I might not bother tonight. Need an early night. And no messing on my phone!!!
Need to get DS swimbag together though and something for DD to do while we're there.
So we are all set for the busy week ahead!
