Cancelling Sky in my husband's name and taking it out in mine, could this trip me up?

    Blimey, calm down dear.
I was only trying to help the little lady with her questions. ;)

Nice assumption there :rotfl:- in the new age of same sex marriages the 'little lady' could be a big butch bloke

you MAY have to be without the TV for a couple of weeks

Not quite. All the Free To Air and Free To View channels will continue to work from the Sky box (but recording won't).
  • Just to let you know just got off phone to Sky retentions. They said that if I cancel there are no checks to stop wife joining and getting new box etc. only downside is now I have told them I was thinking of this they have put block on it! Don't tell them and just do it! Anyways off to BT Tv anyways

I really don't think SKY enforce the new customer only offers for people that cancel and rejoin.
i have done this 2 years running changing the the name from mine to my partners name to take advantage of the 50% off deals and have had no problem.

I think the level of competition from BT and other companies may have changed Sky's stance and they can't afford to refuse the the business.

A paying customer is better than no customer.

You don't need to go through it though, it's far easy to cancel with 31 days notice (as you'd have to anyway) and wait for them to get in touch with a 50% or better reduction offer.

They did with me, sort of.
Roughly 2 years ago I cancelled, rejoined around 2 months later in wife's name (same second name) via some 3rd party website and Sky called to say they could not complete at that price would need to be full rate as we were not "new".

Then when I told them fine don't bother with it, they stated they actually could offer me the same deal direct if I called another number yada yada...didn't bother in the end.
