Birmingham airport - fine?

Anyone know how strict or if there's any Lea way on the £100 red route fine?
on the exit route next to a car rental place is a layby look alike, double red lines, I was stopped for 2 mins, was looking up reading the sign indicating I cannot stop there and of the fine. Then drove off, on doing so noticed a camera van parked 20-30 yards back. He could have been there no more than 30-60 seconds.

Surely I won't receive a fine for this? Or will I? And if so how will they expect payment and when by?
I barely even make 100quid a month disposable at the moment argh.

It's not a parking offence, it's a red route violation.

In London, they're enforced by the councils and it's a £130 fine. Birmingham may be different.

What's the purpose of the layby if it's got red lines in it? Surely nobody can ever stop in it? Hopefully you'll get away with it but I'm not sure why you felt it would be OK to stop on a red route when they've been around long enough for people to know that they really do mean no stopping.

I knew it was a red route, but pulled in to a bit of rough land, fence between main Road and this area but not fenced off if that makes sense. I saw a car there on the way in, it wasn't until I pulled in that I saw double reads also in it, so was reading the sign (kinda, was hard to read in the car). Then proceeded to pull out and pull over somewhere else when noticing the camera van behind me. to the other poster, it's not a private car park, I don't know who deals with it but I thought airports had bylaws. it was an innocent mistake, many airports have some kind of laybe nearby, just assumed it was a typical area

From what you say this sounds like a Private Parking Ticket which has become the favourite 'scam' on many airport
    approach roads.

You should not ignore the ticket but you will have to do your research to get your head around how to deal with these things now that they have you in their sights. Both this forum and Peppipoo have plenty of past and current threads running.

Final point, do not think of paying

Just done a Google search for Birmingham airport parking and it brings up ncp

    http://www.ncp.co.uk/find-a-car-park/car-parks/birmingham-airport-drop-and-go/

This is a private company isn't it?
But aren't airports subject to different bylaws where red routes are concerned?

Byelaws were enacted in 2004 so not exactly out of date. They cover airport roads not covered by the Road Traffic Act so an appeal should be a walk over.

NCP might run the car parks , they are on private land NOT THE ROAD
