Vok - We're using an independent local surveyor recommended by the estate agent who knows the area very well indeed. Nobody offered NatWest's homebuyer's survey to us - don't know if they have one or not actually!
mplunk - I'm sorely tempted to do that ourselves. Our broker has gone away on holiday too which we didn't know, and he'd also told us he'd expect to hear something yesterday. He says he'll chase them on Tuesday. I wouldn't normally be quite so anxious but our landlords are being complete ****s and their response to us asking nicely if they could delay marketing until we'd gone (there are many, many reasons why it's very bad for us) was dealt with by us getting phonecalls from the EA to arrange photos a few hours later with no apology. So we've dug our heels in, citing "quiet enjoyment" and no access at all until we've left now (we'd been open to negotiation before) and the whole thing has got so miserable. To be a lot more sure we know all is okay would really help with the stress right now as I'm not even eating with the worry. But on the other hand I don't want to override our broker :-/0 -
Lostftb, did they offer you that option or did you request it. Out of interest how much did they charge for the survey (I know the charge depends of address and house price)?
Lizards, that was what I was thinking of doing but some lenders do a combined valuation and Homebuyers survey at a discounted rate0 -

We told broker from the start that we want homebuyer survey to be done along with valuation and they took the money after underwriters approved it, subject to valuation.
We received post from Connells two days later to sign a doc and indicate if we want survey to be sent by email.
Natwest Valuations
Where a valuation fee applies, the customer will also be charged a valuation admin fee of £75
Valuation Band - Standard - Homebuyers - Building
Up to £100,000 £123 £258 £510
£100,001 - £250,000 £173 £367 £641
£250,001 - £500,000 £277 £511 £799
£500,001 - £700,000 £459 £702 £1,111
£700,001 - £850,000 £552 £814 £1,2680 -
Bah, that's annoying - we could have had it all out the way if I'd known! I'd clean forgotten about that side of things and the broker never mentioned it. Would have saved us £500 as we're paying out £650+VAT for our survey and the homebuyers one is only a couple of hundred more than the valuation fee we paid. Oh well, I guess at least it's an independent surveyor with local knowledge and the bank won't see it this way.0

Hi, we have used Natwest for our homebuyers report. We had to ring up ourselves and request it and in total it has cost us 425 including both valuation and homebuyers, however it all depends on the house price. It worked out cheaper for us than doing it seperately. Connells have already sent us out the paperwork so I guess it has been instructed.0

We've used Natwest service for survey, just told straight away that we want the homebuyers, not just the valuation, it was £586. On that side, it was done on the 24th and although the bank received the valuation, we still haven't received the report itself and estate agent rang the surveyors yesterday, it's not even ready yet... just another thing that's dragging.0

Hi all, hope you are all doing ok? So to help some of us that have developed high-blood pressure because of the stress of our mortgage application process, lol, I would like to see if this is working.
I got this statement from Natwest Intermediary Solution website - Current Processing Timescales:
"Today Thursday 2nd April we are Underwriting:
- Applications that have been fully packaged as of Friday 27th March and assessing Further Information received on Friday 27th March.
Once we have completed our assessment we will contact you by email or by phone to provide you with an update."
So if anyone submitted there full application (i think they are taking the date your documents were submitted not the date your actual application was submitted) or submitted additional information on Friday 27th then you should get some sort of update from Natwest today.
Please let us know if this applies to you. Thanks0 -
I did a bad thing because I was falling to pieces with the stress over the weekend (our landlord has been incredibly arrogant and rude as regards timescales, viewings etc, not recognising our legal never mind our moral rights) and rang NatWest directly. I wouldn't have done it but our broker was on holiday and I was in such a state. Apparently our mortgage offer will be issued today because the valuation was fine! Relief does not begin to describe it..
Just waiting for the call from our broker to confirm it today! Will have to act surprised or something ;-)0 -
Hopefully you will know more soon then vok, it shouldnt take it to long to go through underwriting, from my experience with natwest that is.
Well fingers crossed we are meant to be exchanging today and completing friday. From us putting on offer in its took 7 weeks altogether.
Hope everyone else is getting there, hang in there, the stress will soon be over hopefully0 -
Hi All, please ignore my previous post as the phone call I just received as proved differently.
So we submitted additional requested on Thursday 02/04/15 to Natwest and from the information in their site (i.e. my post above) I wasn’t excepting to hear anything until Thursday or Friday. But my broker just called me to say that my application has been approved and valuation instructed. Woooohoooooooooooooooooooo! I am beyond excited and thankful to God. It’s being a stressful time, my goodness.
Lizards – I got told off by my broker for contacting Natwest directly and if am being honest it helped me control my anxiety in that I just waited to hear from him. Hopefully your mortgage offer will be issued today. Good luck xxx
C.Redfern – honestly I don’t know how you have coped with all this tight deadlines. Lol. Well done you. Hopefully you will exchange and complete as planned xxxxx.
Good luck everyone xxxx
