I wouldn't be accepting PayPal for this, no chance whatsoever. I don't trust them.

which is why so many of us are suggesting this is not sold on eBay, on eBay OPmhas no choice.

So with a bank transfer, do I give them my bank details?

Surely if I transfer the funds from paypal into my bank account then post it, that would be fine?? I would actually have the money, no??

I've been to 2 jewellers and they weren't interested.

    Someone has now offered £650.

I understand the value will drop by at least a £1000 off the retail price.

Thank you all for the replies

For a bank transfer all they need is your sort code and account number. For security ship the day after it shows in your account and make sure it was a bank transfer and not a cheque paid in.

Obviously you would need to cancel your eBay listing to do this but as per other posts, if you have any bids already then you will still have to pay FVFs.

You will still need to send to securely as it is still possible for a buyer to take you to small claims if item is lost en route.

The fact you transfer the funds to your bank won't stop a charge back or an item not as described claim. PayPal will refund the money and put your account in the red. At which point if you ever want to use PayPal Or eBay again you will have to pay PayPal the balance back. I'm not sure if pay pal use debt collectors but I highly doubt they will take being a few k down lightly.

The buyer can say a plethora of things to get a refund. They got an empty envelope. They item is a fake. It's not as described. It never arrived. Their card was used without their knowledge. They changed their mind. They feel like it. Basically anything.

PayPal will side with the buyer. They always do.

There's not a snowballs chance in hell I'd risk using PayPal on such a high amount. There is just too many ways the buyer can screw over the seller.

Cash on collection or bank transfer only for such a high value item.

I tried to change the payment option but it won't let me remove the Paypal option.

Does anyone think I should just accept an offer of £650? That person said they'd do a bank transfer.

You can't remove the paypal option- we've covered that throughout this thread. If it is set up as an auction you also can't accept offers.

There are no bids...so I can stop the auction.
I have added another payment option but stated I will not accept paypal.

Thank you all for the great advice....this is a learning curve for me!

Oh dear, you cannot refuse paypal if selling via ebay, you can request cash on collection and state you will accept other payment methods ,but following the T&Cs you cant not accept it .

Should one of your buyers want to be funny they can report you and get your listing removed.
