Is TalkTalk LARGE fibre - another way of describing FTTP ?

If so - surely they need to run a fibre to the property ?

They are currently offering a LARGE fibre upgrade from MEDIUM for existing customers at an extra £5 per month - which appears to be a bargain (Download speed approximately doubled to 76Mbps plus UPLOAD speed from 2Mbps to 20Mbps)
Is this worth an extra £5 per month ?

Just reads as a package certainly not FTTP .

Download speeds of up to 38Mb with Fibre Medium.
Up to 76Mb with Fibre Large

Talktalk are quire naughty with their medium package and keep it very quiet that their upload on medium is 2mbps as opposed to 10mbps from others 38mbps download packages.

Just being curious but are there many people who really need an Upload speed in excess of 2Mbps?

I work in IT and talktalk has always been a no-go for problems and customer service , id suggest having a look at plusnet (my opinion anyway!)

I'm on TT and never had any probs, however their routers are utter cr^p IMHO and I've always had my own, most ISP supplied routers are rubbish anyway.

    Hmmm plusnet, good old BT.

Heck yes - I have 11Mbps (Virgin) and need it. I use VOIP a lot and this speed keeps the quality of the connection consisteently high. Also when u/l emails with large photo attachments, I wouldn't consider anything less.

If, or when you decide to store some of your files in the cloud.
10 GB of files will take a few hours, I know. ;)
    I only have 0.8Mbps up.
Admittedly, this is only for the first upload, subsequent updates are generally small increments.
    Move along, nothing to see.

    Really?

I use VOIP (SIP and Skype) quite a lot too and ~800kbps are more than enough. At 11Mbps you could easily stream uncompressed music...
