New motherboard help needed

You could try taking out the cpu completely and trying it again. That should confirm if the CPU is causing the problem.
Without a cpu, the motherboard should power up (fans should start spinning)
Do you have a pc speaker attached to the motherboard, as this could help identify the problem.Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

the speaker would make beeps , by telling us the beeps it might indicate the fault
there should be a small speaker in the front of the cases , or even one in that dell , you can borrow , they are only about 2in in diameter0 -
the speaker is not required, but is useful, as it gives different beeps depending on the problem.
Some cases have them built in, althou alot of modern ones no longer come with them. Motherboards sometimes come with them as well, so you may already have one somewhere
it needs to be a pc speaker, not jsut any old speaker, they are usually small, and have a 4 pin connector on the end that plugs into the motherboard (usually where the rest of the front panel plugs in, switch, leds, etc)
you could also buy one if you really wanted.
heres an example

if you look around you could probably get one even cheaper.
If the pc isn't powering up however, then the speaker wont be useful.0 -

Well my son got a magnifying glass out today and noticed that one of the pins in the processor socket was slightly out of line. He put it straight with some tweezers and hey presto, the whole thing works. I'm definitely going to have my eyes tested because I looked at those pins loads of times.
Thank you all so much for your help, and sorry to have put you to so much trouble.Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

Too much to read through (i'm registerd blind btw)
Did any one suggest resitting the cpu ... And not using that type power supply ...a seasonic / xfx / corsair would perform better.... Also where the power header is on the board....sone motherboards are dependand on the polarity of the switch ...ie if + (positive) is to - (negative) it just wont work!!
LoL just realised the Op found the solution well son did with tweezers ....1st thing ide have checked!!!! Esp knowing the board had power ....good stuff!!!0
