New motherboard help needed

has it started and stopped the fans several times or just the once?
the reason I ask is that even without the power lead in , it would spin up for a split second using the power left in the PSU capacitors
I would also double check the leads going to the on/off and reset buttons (wrong ones on each)0 -

I can't help wondering if the processor is toast and not the motherboards? The only way of knowing is with a spare CPU. I'd go back to the computer shop and ask if they can test the motherboard with a spare CPU.0

no , check if the dell uses the same CPU , from memory you said skt 1155 , note newer boards use a skt 1150 , although they look the same the pins are different0

Pretty much what enfield freddy said. Use a tool such as Speccy to find out what motherboard and processor the Dell has.0

You could try taking out the cpu completely and trying it again. That should confirm if the CPU is causing the problem.
Without a cpu, the motherboard should power up (fans should start spinning)
Do you have a pc speaker attached to the motherboard, as this could help identify the problem.0 -
well there you go , you can test both boards now0
