Will Dialler one allow you to dial 905 manually though ?

If so you could just add it as a speedial against Voicemail
It's not just about the money

It defaults to 443 whether dialled manually, as a Contact, or via Speed Dial. I've tried programming 905 as a contact, then assigning that to the Speed Dial widget. Still goes to 443.
That is what is baffling me. If save 905 as a contact (say 'as Fred') it still changes to 443. But only with 905.
I could call Tesco Mobile support but I can't imagine they'll have a clue on this one. Motorola support maybe?

I have a Motorola Moto G 4G and have just switched from giffgaff to Tesco Mobile and ported the number. But I cannot access the TM voicemail. I have switched Voicemail on (2905), and change the voicemail default in Menu>Settings>Call Settings to 905. But when I dial Voicemail it wrongly dials 443 (the giffgaff voicemail number) which of course is not recognised. Even if I create a new contact and save 905 to it, or even dial 905 manually, it still dials 443!
Can anyone advise please? The phone was bought SIM-free.

You have associated 905 with voicemail when you changed the default in Menu>Settings>Call Settings to 905

Remove this and then dialling 905 should access your Tesco voicemail.

If you deactivate voicemail what happens if you dial 905 from Dialler One

espresso: but surely associating 905 with Voicemail is what I want to do? Anyway, I tried removing 905 as the default dialler voicemail number, leaving it blank, and rebooted. Still dials 443.
Silk: deactivated voicemail using 2915, dialled 905 using Dialler One, still dials 443.

There was a post on the giffgaff forum from someone having the same issue with a Moto G, but in the opposite direction. They had a TM sourced mobile running on giffgaff and they couldn't change the voicemail from 905 to 443. But a slightly different issue, because they couldn't change the default voicemail number in Settings away from 905. I can enter any number I like, but it doesn't alter the dialler behaviour. It's as if the giffgaf SIM has written 443 into the firmware?
Maybe i should contact this person and suggest we swap handsets...?

Agreed, you would like to associate 905 with voicemail but it doesn't work as you have found out. I believe that the GiffGaff SIM has created a GiffGaff profile that can't be overridden by changing that setting option in the menu - perhaps a handset reset would clear the GiffGaff profile.

Try changing the voicemail setting to something else e.g. 666. then dialling 905 should work.

I have just tried a brand new EE SIM in a handset that was bought unlocked and has only ever previously had a Tesco contract SIM in it and the voicemail icon immediately connected to EE voicemail i.e. it picked up the voicemail number from the SIM.

Tried changing the voicemail setting to a random number. Rebooted, still dials 443 when I manually dial 905. I can get that it locks the voicemail setting to 443, but if I create a Voicemail contact with the number 905 and name it Fred' or 'Freda', then how does it know that that is a voicemail number ,and dials what it thinks to be the correct one? Illogical...
I originally used Motorola Migrate to transfer settings over from the previous handset, so it could be an issue with that.

Update: I contacted Motorola support by email and got a response today within about 3 hours. They stated that the phone locks to the voicemail number of the first SIM inserted (which in this case was giffgaff) and suggested clearing the cache data. I tried this twice (with SIM both in and out) but it didn't resolve the problem. I've emailed them again but suspect the only remaining option is a Factory Reset.
Rooting the phone is really not an option, as it's still got 9m warranty left on it.
