I've just remembered I used to have 2 little brass heffalumps, the biggest being about an inch long and an even smaller one...I have absolutely no idea what happened to them as I can't recall seeing them for years'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -

No hefferlumps or monkeys here, only an excess of penguins and a particularly cute but stupid cat!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I can offer 2 wooden hefferlump book ends, brought back from Burma by my Dad when he returned after the war.
The soldiers were given a cigarette allowance and iron rations in case of emergency.
Dad didn't smoke and said that the iron rations were close to inedible but that the Burmese would give anything for both. He did some good bargaining! Not only the hefferlumps but silver bowls, a leather handbag, various items for his daughter but nothing apart from the bookends for himself.
The hefferlumps are sitting on my windowsill as I post.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Bit of a noisy night last night. The fence around the building site across the road was clattering in the wind, so much so that I got up and peered out of the window to make sure no one was trying to break into the site. I eventually decided that if anyone was, they were doing it around the corner where I couldn't see, so someone else could worry about it.
Then a fox came along with her cubs and was dragging someone's food waste bin around in the road until she managed to get it open. These bins are meant to be fox-proof.....0 -
Is anything fox proof ivyleaf?
Bit noisy here too before I went to bed but either the wind dropped or I slept through it.
Where is everyone?0 -
Hi Nursemaggie - looks like just you, me and Ivy then! Stirred myself to walk up to the village for a few bits and pieces in our Lidly's - bitter cold wind here so maybe Mardatha has gone back into hibernation! If so I don't blame her. Going to tackle the ironing pile to warm up!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
