I'm pretty sure that Terry would have love, love, loved being around in these 'interesting times' and the books that came from them would have been hilariously funny and the characters drawn with an accuracy that would make us cry with laughter. In fact I'm not at all sure he isn't the one whose script the world is actually following right now..... Thanks Mr.Pratchett, sorry about the elephant but he says he's staying here 'cos he's heard that someone is sending an entire basket full of buns up to Scotlandshire and is soooooo not going to miss out on that one, he's propped up the disc above the turtle with a clothes prop!!!0

Got back from church an hour ago and these posts have had me giggling, thank you you lovely, crazy lot
The singing went fine
And I've had several texts from DD exclaiming delightedly about how comfy the bras are - or perhaps I should say, about how comfy the bra is, since obviously she's only wearing one of them0 -
Happy Easter to those celebrating  and very best wishes to all of you

You lot being fellow Pterry fans explains a great deal.
I wasted some 8 years after he was first recommended to me, then two good friends independently begged me to read him. I chose Hogfather - still a favourite - and never looked back.
Between TP and The Thick of It, fiction has morphed in to fact. Have to laugh, cos it's better than the alternative.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

What wonderful news Burtha . I see both pets and offspring don't do things by halves either ! Must be in the genes .
Welcome to the little one I hope Mum and baby are well and all of you get some rest .
Glad all was well Ivyleaf
McC I can't imagine Pterry would make up the present situation , I know he mocked the foolish , arrogant and greedy but this situation is a whole different ball game . A writer who turned DEATH into a figure many of us , the man included would quite like to meet . I mean loves cats , gardens - even if his idea of gardening is more the Jack Skellington approach to Christmas . No the present situation is being too easily played down .
I like others recall vividly living through the Cuban crisis . In todays situation far too many heads of countries are nutters and many have little to lose in their twisted views .
As the man himself said ......open your eyes , then open your eyes again. Not aimed at anyone btw just a thought as Terry wrote the quotes that sum things up so well .
pollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
burtha: what an exciting life you lead! Three pups, wow. I complain about one!
It's a lovely Easter Day here. Bright and sunny if a bit breezy. This morning I took the complained about pup for a long walk on the beach. The tide was out and many other dog walkers had the same idea. My goodness, did those dogs enjoy themselves! Running, chasing, leaping over each other, completely ignoring the calls of their owners. I was so glad that Dora was not the only deaf dog.
Then about 20 horses appeared. Dora decided that discretion was certainly the better part of valour and as the horses were bigger than her she returned to my side a bit smartish. My pocketful of treats may have had something to do with it but we basked in the admiration of all the other dog owners who were still frantically trying to get their charges away from thundering hooves.
I'm enjoying being on my own. Have had several phone calls from friends so don't lack anyone to chat to.
Enjoy the rest of the week end all of you.
Be careful with that washing Hester. We know that you are fairly nonchalant about underwear but Capt H. S. may not appreciate being so depraved - I mean deprived.
