Apologies for an extended absence. First the tablet had a hissy fit and had to be wiped, thus losing my password. Then hubbys hard drive had a fit, so stopped me retrieving said password. Then I got a bit sick (probably just exhausted with a migraine). Then we caught the tail end of Cyclone debbie. So I haven't yet caught up on all your news, but hope to soon.

To give you some idea of what it's like to get the tail end of a cyclone, we got force 10 winds and the same rain in a 24 hour period as Morecambe gets in 3 of its rainiest months in total. Still, we count ourselves lucky we only got the tail end. We're down a phone line and a few plants.

Turns out all the gravel we shifted, all the drainage we put in and all the other stuff we did actually worked. Now, if we could just get the guttering done, it'd cope no bother.

Welcome back softstuff, glad the work has paid off, hope your feeling a bit better.
Nursemaggie, sorry I don't know what they are called , I have seen them used in caravans , wire drying rack things , they can be looped over inside doors or have seen them hanging over a window ledge , depending on what type of windows you have .
Shame you couldn't get a petition up and running and leave it somewhere they could all see and sign ,
Can't think what else to do ..

Thank you very much Burtha, I know what to spend my next Amazon vouchers on.
I didn't know about over door racks, only radiator racks. I have an over stairs pulley rack but a downstairs door rack would be so handy.

Thanks Burtha for the mention of the wire overdoor racks . Also McC for the link . I know someone who's been looking for something like that for a long time .
Hopefully you'll be able to use them NM to make things a bit easier . I hope things are ok healthwise .
I'm supposed to be sorting books for the charity shops today and not going online ! Only my second post today so that's allowed isn't it ?
A quick question does anyone have experience of the Amazon outdoor Locker system ? I am finding it near impossible to be around for any deliveries that aren't Royal Mail ( they know where to leave things )
Am Logistics leave things in the daftest places and also bother neighbours that aren't nearby . Recently they left a parcel in my bin which was on the pavement on bin day , luckily a friend opposite spotted it and took it home until I returned .
McC Have you used the locker pick up ? All other options aren't available as the parcel is too big - that Crock Pot.
A nearby village has an outdoor pick up from a small general store , described as a cage system which means nothing to me . Also a bit out of the way now I no longer drive .
Other option is Morrisons superstore I shop in every few weeks which has the outdoor lockers . I'm due a visit there anyway as I rotate shops according to what I need to stock up on .
Anyway sorry for the long ramble I'd welcome any feedback on security , reliability and how easy they are to use .
Take care everyone , hope you get some sun .

Hester I logged out then noticed your light on .
When I replied on your blog a few days ago I forget about the foam and fabric you'd mentioned .
Do you have a Dunelm anywhere near ?
I have bought a lot of foam from there over the years and it has lasted well . Not expensive and decent quality . They also have padding etc you may need for the chairs .
I made a huge footstool from scratch about 10 year ago and apart from the thick ply base and solid wood chunky turned legs ( 50p each from a local ironmonger who was retiring - always regretted not buying the remaining dozen - everything else including upholstery tacks was from Dunelm . Lots of shapes and sizes .
Some good offers on fabrics and depending on amount you'll need good remnants .

Its the outdoor drying of big things I need but thanks anyway. I got rid of a lot of similar I had for radiators when we moved here. Those things are OK for a teatowel and a few pairs of knickers. It's sheets duvet covers and bath sheets that are the problem. All my doors open against something.

Sorry to hear of all your problems softstuff. Good that all your drainage worked. :j:T

Yesterday Microsoft cleaned off some malware from Chrome and stopped me getting on here. I got the new thread this morning but now after logging in I have the old one back. All is well.

No, I'm afraid I haven't used the Amazon lockers, but from what I have seen on the Amazon website forums, customers seem to use them a lot.
A few problems reported, such as locker doors not opening because they were faulty, and Amazon Customer Service being totally unable to help, but a lot of people seem to use them without issues.

I am very lucky that I now work from home and are in for 90% of deliveries. Some of my Amazon Logistics people have been better than others. I sometimes see an excellent Hermes driver and the odd Yodel bloke, plus my postman. 80% of deliveries are Amazon, but if it goes through a letterbox, Royal Mail usually bring it. If it is massive, Yodel or Hermes.

Set to be a lovely sunny day here, and a sweltering tropical 10C, so I might get out to play in the garden. Bike getting taxed tomorrow, so between the steroids and the bike, I might get a life back this summer :j:j

The sun is already sneaking round the blackout curtains here, we are supposed to be allotmenting but DH had a late night brewing so is still asleep next to me. I am debating whether to get up, leave him to sleep and go without him...
