Great news on the swimming NM . Will that involve much travel ? As well as helping physically it can be a great mood lifter .
Mar agree with the others " be the change you want to see " nothing changes unless someone politely but firmly challenges it in the accepted process . That is an appalling thing to happen after people show up after worrying what will happen , dragging themselves there and bearing the cost of the trip .
Ginny your little fella should fly now , I know you were aware he was more capable than judged but it must do your hearts good to see him engaging so positively now at school .
Ivyleaf and NM It gives me some comfort to see others who have the lists that never seem to end . I wish it were different for all but at least we aren't alone on our journey's .

I've decided that this weekend I will spring clean & sort out the kitchen. It's not huge, about 9'x6' with a door at each end but has proper depth cupboards on one side and wall units on legs on the other. There is also the pantry, a.k.a. under the stairs which needs a clear out. Am envisaging DH saying "why....?" a lot, particularly when it comes to clearing the never-used-since-2006 stuff that he objected to being chucked last time! What would be good is if he goes & digs the allotment as I will get the house to myself
but I think I will get stuck into the food cupboards tomorrow while he's working upstairs in his office

I've been doing this every day Floss. On bad days when tired I just sat on a bar stool and cleared out the kitchen drawers; today was a good day and I got out in the garden and cleared some winter rubbish and weeded the patio. I am a tidy person and very much a minimalist so everything here is easy tidied out. The only bit I canny get to is the loft - and that's got more stuff in it than the whole house has! One of these nights it's all going to fall on top of us as the beams give way..0

After being all pleased with myself about getting some gardening done, that's the snow on again thick and heavy. I'm ready for summer now!0

I ordered a new winter coat Mar. When it comes it will start warming up. I hope it fits, I have swollen up now the cancer has come back. It is also coming all the way from Hong Kong so I think it may be a while.0

As long as it's here by next winter NM you should be fine. Hopefully it's not coming on a slow boat!I believe that friends are quiet angels

Manna DS's books come in about three days from Japan and that is a lot further away.
It only cost me £17 so actually I don't think it can be a winter coat. It was in a sale.
I'm just about recovered from Tuesday. I slept until 3.30pm today. I could probably have slept a lot longer as I was woken by my phone being delivered. I have not had one for about 8 years so I will have to learn how to use it again.
I was horrified to hear what you said about your local Hospital!!!! My first thought was of a mother who developed complications in labour in the middle of a storm when the ferries don't run. I know they have helicopters these days but it is bad enough if you have to have a C. Section without the drama of an airlift to hospital. The storm could also be too bad too fly. GP's don't operate on Kitchen tables anymore thank God.
Greenbee I am glad you have your date for your operation. I hope everything goes OK and no cancellations. I will be thinking of you. maybe not at 8.30am if I am still tired. I will remember you in my prayers the night before.0 -
nursemaggie. I guess you are having one of those nights as well. I usually sleep fairly well but tonight I have only managed about an hour, and when I did I had such a horrible nightmare that I was glad to wake up again. I can't remember the last time that happened.
Still, I don't have anything much on tomorrow so perhaps I can sleep on in the morning.
I think that our hospital can cope with most things. Certainly a C section wouldn't be a problem and we do have an air ambulance. Just as well as the trip to Southampton takes an hour. We have to fight to keep it open though.
I am sorry that your body has swollen up again. It must make it difficult when your clothes are uncomfortable. Perhaps your new coat, or whatever it turns out to be, will look fantastic and you will be happy to wear it. Have you seen a picture of it? You are right, £17 seems very cheap for a coat.
Well, I suppose I ought to try to get some sleep before morning starts properly. I hope you feel better for your long sleep yesterday.

Monna I have the dubious honour of almost being arrested at your local hospital.
I was on holiday on the IOW at a holiday camp, my youngest who was about 3 or 4 then, had a fall in the swimming pool and cut his mouth whilst in the care of the holiday club. I took him to the local Dr's who couldn't stitch it they sent me to the hospital A & E, there were no other patients but I waited for over an hour after he had been assessed. Eventually I collared a nurse to ask what was causing the delay, she went to find out, I returned to DS in the cubical. The Dr, not realising where I was stood then explained that they were waiting for social services to collect my son and for the police to come and question me as DS's injury looked like a NAI (non accidental injury) in other words they thought I had backhanded him across the face! I stepped out from behind the curtain in front of the astonished Dr and said
'I've come from the holiday camp, they phoned ahead, I wasn't with my son when the accident happened, he was in the care of the children's club personnel when he slipped and it was an accident, there are lots of witnesses including my 3 other children! Could you stitch him up and call off the police?'
They promptly apologised and stitched up my son's mouth, I used to be a registered childminder and had looked after children who were in daytime respite, I was fully trained on NAI's so I knew what I was talking about. But I was very please to find the hospital so diligent on child safety.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
TBH my first thought about the hospital on the Island was how difficult and expensive it must be to visit someone who's had to go to a hospital on the mainland  monnagran It's appalling that you have to fight to keep your hospital open!0
