  • Morning Fencers, housework done, lunch sorted and we're off to a local Boot Fair this morning. I never go with a specific in mind but have a long running list of things I'd like to find and they DO turn up, so it's usually worth the wait. If I'm lucky today I'll find some more blue and white china for my motley collection none of the patterns are the same but it all sits happily side by side with the other things in it. If I'm VERY lucky some time this year I'll find the porringer/bain marie that I'd like to replace my old enamel one which is too small and has seen better days. I use it for making rice pudding on the hob which we have quite often as it's nourishing, cheal and delicious. This afternoon if the lawn is dry plan is to empty the summer house, take up the old bits of flooring and put down the carpet offcuts left from the recent bedroom floor. There should be enough to cover most of the floor and make it cosier. Ongoing plan is to look for some replacement furniture to use in there as at the moment it only has 'house rejects' and mended bits. Now that Zebra is walking and a bit bigger it will be nice to have it properly kitted out so we can sit in the garden while he plays outside. No hurry though and I'll pick up bits as they present themselves to me.

    Good morning :)

Sunny and breezy here but it s nice to see the brighter (and dare I say it?) warmer weather. Lyn the raspberry canes have a lovely bit of greenery beginning and the blueberry is budding. She has had the week off this week so lots of garden tidying. It's looking smashing out their now - ready for adding to it this year.

Also we had the go-ahead from the landlord to update the bleak 80's kitchen cupboards and remove the tall broom cupboard that the door hinges are rusting off. DH is constructing a wall to ceiling cupboard that will be plasterboard and painting and I am continuing with painting the walls and primer the cupboard doors. We have to pay for it but it's not too expensive until we get to replacing the floor. No, it's not our house but for now it's our home so worth it.

Meal preps have been great this week. Although DH has been home I have still done the meals as wanted to get into a better routine. I'm prepping the night before (chucking everything in bowl and putting in the fridge) then adding it to SC before I leave for work. A simple side of veg or carbs when I come in and voila.

Got a problem. My teaspoons are a bit yukky with tea stains. Bearing in mind they are supermarket ones for 40p, how can I rid of the stains?

Also healthy eating is going really well. I wouldn't say I am losing weight but I feel better and less bloated so it's a good start.

Well must dash. Got a lot of DIY to do. Enjoy your Sunday

:)Fuddle, the easiest way I know is to put some cream cleanser on a scratchy nylon scourer and rub the stains with that. Takes seconds.

Righty, flask is made and I am outta here, the sun is shining and my allotment is calling me. Have a lovely day, folks.GQ xx

Slightly dampen table salt into a paste and use that. Also works on tea cups etc.

Thanks very much for the tips. :) Apologies for the poor grammar and typos. I'm still using my phone until I get a laptop charger.

I go with an even easier tip Fuddle, a teaspoon of washing soda or washing powder in a mug filled with boiling water and sit the teaspoons in. I do it to remove teastains on mugs, but pop the spoons in at the same time. No scrubbing needed, the stains just wipe off, then you give them a good rinse.

Fairyprincess, if you already bought the gin for nursie, I'd hate to see it go to waste... i could help you out there :D

Hi FUDDLE I find just giving them a soak in some bio washing powder then using a nylon scrubber gets them shining, glad you're doing the update in the kitchen, as you say it's home for a while and worth getting your own stamp on it as much as you can within the bounds of what you're allowed and what you can sensibly afford to put in. Depending on what you want for the floor if you look in the places like Carpet Right/Carpetland they very often have pieces or vinyl flooring/carpet as remnants from a long roll for very little money. We did the bathroom (not a remnant) and the bedroom which was a remnant for £211 the two. It cost us another £96 to have them fitted but if OH can fit lino it might not cost you as much as you think, might be worth considering? Have a look locally and get an idea of price when the time is right.

Glad the meal planning is going well too, sounds like you've got your Mojo back petal!!!

Glad to hear that the raspberry canes are away and growing, you should get fruit this year. I've made a discovery this morning that the damson tree I thought had died is alive and kicking and not only has leaves but blossom too! two of the apple trees have baby leaves and the other two are still swelling buds, the blackberry, loganberry, redcurrant and raspberries we have at home are all in small leaf too and the strawberry plants look green and healthy with new leaves. Could be a good fruit year I think. The boot fair was dissapointing as there was not much worth getting I did however get 5 willowpattern dinner plates and a lovely heavy enamel saucepan big enough for a good stew for £3 the lot! Can't be bad can it? xxx.

Im glad I popped by Mrs Lw am going to make Hubby rice pudding today - ws trying to think of something that he will eat as his appetite is poor.

Sheila hope the anti biotics work quickly for your OH but glad he felt brighter for seeing the doggy.

GQ you never fail to make me smile - in-te- lec-tual :rotfl:Hope your back improves soon. If nursie is on her travels I will lock the doors and hide behind the curtains.

Dgs was rushed home half an hour early, he was playing on the floor and I heard him say 'Move spider' and something was flicked past my feet - no it was a wasp which stung his finger. He was shocked so I got him an ice lolly and he held it on the finger till we got him home for some piriton :( his pain threshold is very high so he just wimpered a little. Mummy and Dddy dealt with it and after nice bath they are taking him for a train ride because he loves it.
