:) Nursie is sulking. She formerly lived (when not gadding about the globe spreading her unique brand of mayhem) in the broom cupboard in my hall with Henri D'Vac.

Now, Henri is an appliance of infinite patience, and his smile seldom fades, but there is only so much one vacuum cleaner can take. He eventually put his caster down and declared no more and Nursie had to move across the hall into the airing cupboard.

I could quite see Henri's point, he was already sharing the broom cupboard, which is only 13 inches deep, with the ironing board, and the airing cupboard represented more luxurious accomodations.

Anyway, as you may recall, there was a split water tank in the flat above and an internal waterfall which came through the airing cupboard.........you can see the problem, can't you?

Nursie got wet, which is a bit like a cat getting wet. Then the mould set in and I had to send her off to specialist contractors for demouldification and she hasn't come back yet. I am hoping that they might be able to keep hold of her, but the woman has form.

:o Errm, for more recent readers, I should explain that Nursie is a running gag, being a fictious member of my domestic staff. She materialised in my life as a cross between Nurse Gladys Emmanuel and Ghengis Khan, and Softstuff and others have had a delightful play with her existance as she goes off on her travels.

If she makes if back after demouldification, I expect she will be her usual sweet-tempered self (aka Defcon 1) and will be available for bookings to attend domestic premises anywhere in the world to give people's neighbours/ spouses/ offspring a good sorting out.

 And I ain't talking 'bout re-arranging your sock drawers, people, she's a dangerous creation.

Shortly after I took my weary self offline yestereve, I got a call from SuperGran on the far side of the block. Yup, more fun and games; 2 ambulances, 8 policemen and a battering ram. And people wonder why I feel no need to own a television..........:rotfl:

And I could have smacked the selfish mare who dragged 3 large wheeled suitcases down the stairs by my flat, whilst wearing clattery heels, at 02.30 hrs this morning. I think that's too much luggage for a holibobs so hope she's doing a moonlight flit and won't be reversing the racket in a fortnight.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

GQ, I feel really angry for you, what an inconsiderate and lazy thing to do. Hopefully they will get their cards and you will have someone next to you who wants the allotment.
Toomuchdebt, see this as a new start. I wish you much love in your new home.
silvasava - You have reminded me that I have a power washer, may have to clean the front drive soon!

Well, it's rained! Good for the garden but I've been used to blue skies and warm weather! Apparently it is to get worse tomorrow with snow over the hills. Oh well, I wouldn't imagine any of the seeds will make it now but not to worry, I can try again.

I've been trying to make some seat pads for some wicker chairs I have in the conservatory, my sewing skills are somewhat lacking but if they look ok I'll be happy!

Got all my summer clothes out of the loft yesterday and gave them a wash through, they dried really quickly but that left me with a lot of ironing so I bit the bullet and did it last night, now need to buy more hangers!

I am unusually sleeping quite well at the moment, I hope it lasts as I feel so much better for it. Have a good weekend everyone. XX

GQ GGGRRR about the next-door allotment! Thank goodness they didn't get any of your veg!

FPK ((HUGS)) and well done for saving up for the lamps. You'll enjoy them all the more knowing you've already paid for them.

Chickens - Sorry your DH isn't well atm :( How lovely that you are able to take Bo to see him, I bet they both love that :)

Mardatha How are you today pet?

Camelot - Last night I dreamed that I was invited to an evening wedding reception, and when I tried on possible outfits from my summer clothes they were all a bit too tight....I hope it wasn't a prophetic dream

    Morning all,

I'm afraid Dad's Army is one programme I've never quite understood. I'm more of a Yes, Minister/Good Life/To the Manor Born type I think. But, the expression does seem fitting. And, should Nursie be found fighting fit I could definitely do with a visit. We slept on the futon again last night and are hoping the council visit is forthcoming as soon as possible.

Chickens it is satisfying most days and most of the time I do genuinely like doing things myself. I think your plans for your garden sound very sensible. It will be less work, but still give you pleasure. I'm sorry to hear your husband has been unwell. I don't know where in the country you are but the high pollution levels can be helping if he has a chest infection. I know your visit will cheer him up, and I think recently you said he had a friend he was able to enjoy a beer with--being ill that might not work out but hopefully they can still have chats.

Dinner last night was lovely--OH made patatas bravas to go with the fish and even seasoned the broccoli very nicely. Eaten in the glow of our new lamp it was very pleasant--now we just need to get bulbs for the other four.

Today holds a bit more cleaning and possibly a shop as we're planning to meet OH's parents tomorrow and the day before term starts things always need sorting out. I've planned the meals but haven't costed it yet. Hoping I won't need to cut too much. I'm slowly starting back to work on Monday, probably just half days until I have my examination date, but I have plenty to get on with now I've had a break. OH has a few overnight trips and other obligations at school so I'll also try to do the last few spring cleaning tasks we didn't get to over half-term. The front bits, windows and the cupboard under the stairs still need doing. I may also try to run up a short curtain for the dining room. The wall tends to be quite cold and a bit damp so we've mostly used a screen, but after painting yesterday I think a short curtain wouldn't cause too many mould problems and would make the room look nicer. I'm sure I've something suitable somewhere in my fabric and curtain tape costs buttons. Fortunately the window is on the only 36inch stretch of outside wall so the room isn't particularly cold.

Thanks for the support, I'm feeling much more myself today and ready to get back to it.

Welcome Petula! Normally I'd offer round tea and biscuits, but seeing as it is a Saturday morning maybe we can pass round some bacon butties!

My work here is done, mwah hah hah! (Sneaks away from garden fence flourishing cloak, turns and trips over Greyqueen''s garden spade
, tumbles to floor in a heap to be licked to death by Mrs LW's lurcher.....so much for the dramatic exit...)

  • Oh yes, he'll be wonderfully soggy when he comes home so get here now NARGLEBLAST and I'll loose him on you as soon as he's home! What a kind person you are, he'll enjoy it so much, he likes licking people. I should warn you though you'll only be in danger of dying laughing, he's very tickly when he licks, not malevolent in any way! xxx.
