Have spent the last two days visiting eye clinic at hospital
and DH needs an urgent scan in the next week or so and then they can decide what treatment is best or possible. Might lose the eye.

Going away for a couple of days for our wedding blessing on Saturday (did not realise it was the Grand National that day  )

DH having a cup of tea in a sunny spot in the garden with a friend who has come to visit so that should do him good.

    Hugs to all.

  • It's amazing what a little warm weather brings out, I went into town today and on a dusty roadside verge down by the railway bridge on the outskirts there were the first bluebells out in bloom, and when I looked back at home ours on the front lawn under the old apple tree are putting up tight little heads of buds too. I'll post a picture when they're actually out but yesterday they were just masses of leaves, isn't nature wonderful?

Mine aren't appearing yet MrsL, but I do love bluebells. My lilac has half a doz wee baby green leaves today yaaay. Re soup, I wanted a clear mixed veg type thing, low-carb and grain-free.

Mardatha, I'm sure Mrs. LW will come up with some delightful recipes, but this basic one is ok. It is an American recipe, but about the only change I think you'd need to make is to mix up stock from a cube instead of buying tinned broth which is a bit different here. I'd also use the tomato puree from the tube rather than tomato paste, which I think is just the same thing under a different name but I've never actually verified that 'looks the same, works the same' is officially the same!

Lovely day today, although no hoovering was achieved as the filter hadn't dried yet. Did some gardening, did a bit of baking and a bit of tidying. Painting tomorrow and hopefully a bit more time in the sun before it disappears in time for the weekend.

Thank ivyleaf. FIL went to the fracture clinic, was told it needs pinning it's healing so badly. So now that is a wait since many surgeons are apparently on holiday.

Still have no laptop, typing key by key is quite painful on a tablet!

Thank you all for your encouragement. I've just popped on quickly before work.I don't spend that much time in the playground as I dash off for work. I think part of the trouble is that 99% of the women there are married, so they meet up for nights out, morning coffee(as they don't work, or work flexi hours) etc, and I'm the odd one out with lots of kids and single. I don't drink much so meeting up in a pub doesn't appeal to me anyway, and I can't identify with women who talk about which resort to go skiing at, or whether £250 is too much for a handbag. I don't fit in.I find it really hard to make friends these days, as well as not having the opportunity to meet anyone.

The sun has been lovely the past few days-I haven't really had a chance to enjoy it as I've been at work and after work I've been moving things from old house to new house-not much more to do now-half a shed and half a bedroom. I am determined to keep this new house tidier than the old one. I have got rid of so much rubbish.I have a load prepared to take to the tip today as well.I'll be so so glad to hand over the keys to that house and will breathe a sigh of relief that I never have to go there again. I can feel myself tense up as soon as I turn into that street and my stress levels are sky high by the time I leave.

elona-hope your dh's eye can be saved.

Toomuchdebt maybe you will find friendly souls in your new street.....I have close friends who are much older and much younger than I. Friendship happens very unexpectedly sometimes....and at others is brief but valuable at that moment. I knew some of my children's friends but not well enough to call on without arrangement. I get on very well with the parents of our eldests other half. We live 2 hours by air and a bus ride away.
Not having the time or money to get out is challenging...doing a bit of gardening at the front or sitting on the doorstep while the kids play out allows the neighbours to say hello..the neighbour i have just moved away from and I wept as the lorry left....we will keep in touch but what we had in common was just that we were neighbours and friendship was built on that.

elona hope it goes better today for your husband.
  • MAR I put a search in this morning for SPRING VEGETABLE SOUP and there is a recipe on the T*SCO website that looks like it might be what you want no carbs and no pulses. It has got fresh peas in it but I think you might be able to leave them out without altering the flavour too much. I also like the nit I am posted this on the SHTF thread too earlier on ! DOH!!!
